CPU at 100%

Help each other out

CPU at 100%

Postby phunk311 on Sun Mar 11, 2007 10:06 pm

Hey Guys,

Any ideas on why my fat client (P4 2.8GHz 512MB) keeps on maxing out the CPU when Xlobby is idle? I have my movies and mp3s on a server and I'm not running anything else on the pc other than Xlobby, Winamp, Girder, and Powerstrip. Is there some log or debug function of Xlobby that may help me track it down? I'm running the latest experimental exe.

Thanks!

I found the cause: it's the XReceive plugin....

And I have the feeling it's because the IP adress is not set to correct one in configuration...

Will test and report back...

Were you able to pinpoint to Xremote (I suspect you meant Xremote and not Xreceive).

It takes a couple of days and then Xlobby is using 95-98% CPU and the whole system is sluggish. You restart Xlobby and everything is fine again.

Is there a way to schedule an automatic Xlobby restart?

No, not XRemote, XReceive plugin, the one to send/receive events from other applications/computers to xlobby.

Sure, just use XEvent plugin and you can set it to restart every day let's say ay 6 am (when noone is using it)

Humm.

I don't think I have the Xreceive plugin installed. But I still have the issue about 100% CPU utilization.

I will schedule an Xlobby restart everyday with the Xevent plugin.

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem; but I'm not using the Xreceive plugin. After a couple hours CPU is at 100%. This seems to have started about a month ago. Is there another fix as opposed to the start/restart solution?

Bill, I had the same prob on first my server, then later on the fat client. The pagefile sizes kept growing too.

I finally installed an earlier version backup on both (copied the entire folder) which had the Aug. 21st. XL release.

Both machines have been fine since then.

Something got corrupted in the server - possibly from a power failure. I never could find the cause.

Yep. Sounds exactly like I have the same problem.

Does anyone have a copy of that release? I'm hoping to eventually move to the newer stuff; but for now I just need to stabilize my system

I've removed all the plugins and still have the problem. Something must have become corrupted in my setup.
