- i have no idea on the problem with the database (opening the categories ). Try to use a new screen with a new category, if it works there it might be a category problem.

Yes, when I create empty screen it does work... weird.

Hmm, I'm kinda getting lost in this.... just to complex for me to figure out... but one thing I figured : I also have real audio radio database, and the problems beging when i put both shoutcast and RA databases in XLobby. it either plays one or the other...

I figured it! :-) Stupid me. What differs with the shoutcast plugin and the old shoutcast script is that (at least on my config) when I select radio from the db created by shoutcast plugin - it CUES the radio to the playlist, leaving the current one playing. That's why I thought that it doesn't work....

Is the 0.2 version still downloadable from somewhere?

XShoutcast Odd bahavior

Postby WannaTheater on Thu Sep 14, 2006 12:02 am

I'm fairly new to XLobby, but learning quickly thanks to reading this forum... Last night I tried to implement the XShoutcast plugin and have been fairly successful, but I am finding the operation to be intermittent.

1) Database has been built, and can be correctly updated using the refresh_db_cat command. I can see my genres, and clicking on them brings up list of stations.

But when I click on the shoutcast station, sometimes it correctly opens in Winamp; but other times the Winamp "Open Files" dialogue comes up. This may happen either way for the same shoutcast channel.

I have an entry in "File Types" for the following:
1) Program = winamp.exe
2) Extensions = pls
3) Switches = %parameter%
4) Path = "C:\Program Files.....\winamp.exe"

Am I doing something wrong here? Has anyone else ever see this happen?

.. I am using XLobby2 (updatelog.txt last entry is July 31, 2006)

Thanks!

Yes, I have had the same problem. In fact I just went and tried the radio stations again and it happened. Once I cancelled the dialog though and clicked on the selected station(using Colby's blueSkin) in the playlist the station played and all those selected afterword played also. I do not know why that dialog shows up though.

For me, I will cancel the dialog, and then it may not come up again for a few radio station clicks... but then it will happen a few more times... then it won't. I originally assumed it was a dead radio station link, but it doesn't appear to matter which link it is.... for the same station, sometimes it happens, then sometime it won't.... all during the same XL session.

My problem is that with my intended use of XLobby, I will have no way to cancel the Winamp dialog... and I think that will hold up winamp.

I think I know what is happening here... Because the %parameter% is being set as a LINK to a .pls on the shoutcast server, every time you click on that station, it appears to SHOUTCAST that you are DOWNLOADING a playlist... which leads to being temporarily banned by shoutcast. But it is not well defined as "when" you get banned, and for how long. I can go directly to the shoutcast website, and keep clicking on the same playlist. Sometimes it will open, sometimes I will get "Too many requests, Try again tomorrow."

I think when this happens from within XLobby, no .pls can be found, so the Winamp "Open" dialogue comes up looking for something to play.

Bummer. I somehow need to replace the LINKS with actual .pls files.

Has anyone found a work around or a way to remotely cancel the Winamp dialogue box when it spuradically shows up? Is there a way to supress it somehow?

Since I use Xnet to control Winamp on a remote machine (then tied to the house intercom), locally closing the dialogue box (to restore proper Winamp function) is not an option, that box is in the closet.

I had the exact same problem and couldn't figure out how to suppress the "Open" dialogue...which when remote is not good... For that reason, I was forced to abandon this plugin. The problem seems to be that the plugin creates a database that references .pls files on the shoutcast website; Unfortunately they aren't always predictable as to their availability. From what I can tell, the .pls files need to be stored locally.

I found a shoutcast_to_xml.vbs script floating around, which builds an XL database of "internet radio" stations. The only problem was that I had to manually download every .pls file from the shoutcast website.

look at there : http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2178
and to download .pls file, check this : http://mp3imagetagextr.sourceforge.net/ ... index.html

I tried ShoutcastPlsDownloader with very little success. It would download a few stations, then say I was banned... I would wait a couple of days, then try again with the same results. I think the most I ever got it to download was 3 stations. Perhaps Shoutcast changed its mechanism for "banning" people?

At the end of the day, I still ended up needing to retreive every station manually.

Has anyone else tried ShoutcastPlsDownloader lately?

I have some .pls files there : shoutcast netradio list.rar

or you can take the database with 420 radios : http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2411
