Click-wheel iPod style

For the programmers out there... wouldn't if be great if there were something like a click-wheel button to be used with the touch-screens? To do stuff like scrolling through the music database, or to just turn the volume up or down.

Well, they can't patent a volume dial, can they?

Anyway, I think one way of doing it would be to have buttons shaped like slices of a pizza and arranged like in a pizza (doh!). Then by checking in what sequence the buttons are 'pressed' we could determine in which direction the user is dialling.
