Can't see movies from ONLY one Xlobby machine, weird

Postby Richard_P_Harvey on Wed Dec 07, 2005 2:20 pm

Can anyone help with this weird problem. I have 3 machines running Xlobby, on one of the three for some reason I can't see ANY of the movies on my media server from within Xlobby. When I do a movie scan I get ZERO, but when I do an MP3 scan they are fine AND the MP3 store and the DVD store are on the same machine and even share a drive or two. Using Windows I can navigate to the DVD folders just fine so it's not a client access issue at all. I have deleted the movies database etc. but nothing helps, the two other Xlobby machines work fine and all machines have the latest .exe loaded.

I'm stumped....!

1.Backup your existing xlobby configuration on the client where you have
the problems
2.Copy existing working xlobbyconfiguration (the xlobby folder) to the client where you have the problems.
3. Check if drive mappings are the same on both the clients, if not ,adjust them to be the same.
4. Try the new xlobby configuration and see if it works.

This is what I would do.....

I actually did pretty much what I think your suggesting here. I copied the Xlobby folder from a working machine over to the onle that does not work and start that copy of Xlobby up, ran a movie scan and it worked fine. So why would I then just not use this copy of Xlobby you ask right....? The reason is because the copied version is off a machine that has it's skin adjusted for a 16x9 screen where the machine that was not working is 4x3 and my ONLY 4x3 machine running X. I had spent several hours getting the skin to be right s few months ago and I would like to avoid doing that again.

So with this test I have proven that it's not this machine or it's network connection in anyway at all BUT it's actually something that went wrong inside this copy of X.

make sure you are using the same movies template : xlobby/databases/template/movies.xml
and maybe your movies template is using dvdprofiler ( I think the defaut template use it, isn't it ? I'm not sure, I'm not using this template...)
I'm not at home right now, but if you need I can post a generic template for a movies scan....

another solution is to use fat client, clients will get databases from the server and you will be able to control audio zones of every pcs and from every pcs... you have to use databases with UNC path : like "\\ServerName\c\..........." for morze information, look at this topic : http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3594
