This is the place to post your skins, and discuss skinning

I attempted to do the radio thing with your skin, but each time I select a radio station, it plays one of my MP3s.

I havent looked at it, but generally when one category executes the wrong information it is because the database of such category isnt linked to the correct database. If you have a radio database make sure this is associated with the radio category OR if you want to use the music category then you may need to add a set database button to switch the associated db within the skin.

Just a thought.

any ideas anyone...does anyone else see this happening? Are you using winamp or foobar?

maybe it's because there is an Enter Event "music:play album" assigned to the category "radio_stations" ...

later,

in my setup, music:play album will load the radio station and begin playing it so that's why i used it... not all the radio stations seem to work any more i need to thin out and update the database, it's an old one that was floating around in one of the skins

later,

I removed this event, and that stopped my mp3s from playing. I limited my radio states to 128 kbps, and I seem to only have 140 stations, but I know I have more than that in my database. The screen is limited to the first 7 or eight categories, and no expansion of the underlying stations. Just playing the high level station(ie. Modern Rock Alternative (128)).

How do I get it to display the remaining stations?

Never mind, I figured it out. I added buttons for page forward and back.

you don't need to use any event, the database is like an audio base and it works directly using foobar and winamp.
you can also use 2 variables to display the name of the playing song etc...

use : audioplayer>now>%trackname% and audioplayer>now>%artist%

... not all the radio stations seem to work any more i need to thin out and update the database, it's an old one that was floating around in one of the skins

ro update the database, look at this post : http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2178

Loss functionality

Postby Alwayslearnin on Thu Jul 28, 2005 4:27 am

Okay, I'm still pretty new to Xlobby, but I've been working at configuring this skin for my purposes.

I added a netflix database and got that to work pretty well. I have the radio stations working pretty well, but somehow I lost my "reset" functionality.

The "List by Genre" button has an event titled "music:radio - reset" which in the original skin would refresh my list back to showing everything. That functionality is gone. I did not change anything on the events on this page. It stopped working after I added the netflix stuff, but I can't see how that affects this screen.

Any ideas? At this point, to change radio stations, I have to shut down Xlobby and restart it.

Okay, this is what I did. Under the Item tab of the skin editor (radio screen) on the Category sub_tab, the "Name" field had been changed to some button name. Don't know when or how I did that. I changed it back to "radio_stations" and everything is back to the way it should be!

Thanks Again!

Now on to a new question. I plan to use this skin with Sage and the Media MVP. Can you explain the folder format for multiple MVP clients? I'm trying to figure where in my file structure xlobby belongs.

Again, I don't have Sage yet, and I'm brand new to Xlobby, so I apologize for the questions, but I'm trying to ensure this will meet my needs. And so far, your skin seems to fit the bill perfectly.

XLobby is wholly separate from SageMC so there are no concerns about file structure or such. XLobby can not be loaded on to the MVP clients, it can only be used on a full computer or other item that can webremote in.

Well the client software will live on the server with the main sagetv. I'm not planning to load anything directly onto the MVP, but I thought I could use Xlobby to control my TV viewing experience on my other TVs throught the MVP device.

I guess I read that wrong.

I'm pretty sure you need to flash the rom on the MediaMVPs with Matt's MVP Sage Client software, but I could be wrong. XLobbyMC can control the copy of Sage that resides on the same pc as it.

You'll connect one MVP to each tv you want as a client and you'll use the software on the MVP and it's remote to access your tv and other stuff. I'm pretty sure the only way to control an MVP is via it's remote. I don't think there's a way to send it commands, but that would be cool.

You don't have to flash the MVP, but the MPV server only displays (to my knowledge) tje Sage screens (including Mpeg video and audio files). It will not decode other formats (.vob, ts etc)

In short, the MPV won't work in this configuration unless someone has made a way to view xlobby on the MPV. I've not seen this though. Might be worth a feature request though.

Naylia,

I'm sorry, I thought you built the XLobbyMC skin to work with Matt's MVP sage client. I was trying to find an easy way for my non techie family to access the information on the computer, as well as automate some of their other functions directly through their TV monitor (using the media mvp client, connected throught matts mvp sage client software, connected to your XlobbyMC, whew!).

Thanks for clarifying that before I spent too much time with this application.

I still like your skin, but I need help with easy control for my family.

Thanks,
Keith

Always,

I think you may almost be making things harder on yourself.

The Hauppauge MVP is a small box that you can connect to any tv in your house. It can access the files on a server computer for display on a tv. It includes a remote. Using matt's software the MVP will act as a SageTV client.

SageTV is running on your server recording tv and doing it's thing. XLobbyMC was built with the idea of minimizing the role of SageTV for everything except PVR capability and letting you have the flexibility of XLobby to handle the other things...like dvds, music, photos, radio, games and such since Sage is restrivictive in how things work while in XLobby you can modify everything exactly the way you want it.
