Am I missing something?

Help each other out

Am I missing something?

Postby skicrave on Wed Jun 30, 2004 3:53 am

xLobby is a great frontend, and I'm really looking forward to getting up and running exactly how I want it through plugins and skinning.

My question is, I know the documentation is a little anemic, but is there somewhere I should be looking for basic setup and configuration? I've purchased TT, but I can't get it integrated correctly.

If I can get some help figuring things out so I'm not stumbling around in the dark, I would be happy to write some documentation for everyone else that's new to xLobby.

I started a basic setup guide here:

I'm gonna add how to setup Zoomplayer and theatertek to the guide tommorow.. Bump this if I don't respond again by tommorow afternoon to remind me ;)

Thanks for pointing that out jowaldo, that's actually the one piece of help I was able to find.

I'll look forward to an update, and hopefully I'll be able to help in the near future.

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,
Since we're in a better forum for this now, maybe you could post what exactly you're having difficulty with, what the symptoms are. I know that you were having problems getting your rips to play, did you get it worked out outside of Xlobby? When you try to play the rips, does TheaterTek start & then just stall, or does it start at all?

These folks over here really know their stuff & usually will come up with a solution.

I figured I'd seey you over here!

Anyway, that's exactly what I was about to do. I've removed my old copy of Xlobby on my test machine and installed a new one just to be sure I'm working from a clean base.

The first issue I need to get figured out is why I can't import my movies. I can add a file directory that contains .mpgs just fine, and when I click import it scans and adds them. If I'm trying to import a rip though, it hangs in the scanning portion and never gets through it.

Let's start with that and move on.

Thanks,

Jason

Try this:

In the setup dialog, remove '\8 Mile' from your movie path. Maybe delete the db first.

Yep, that would be my guess as well. You need to point it to the folder that all of the movie titles are stored in, not the movie title itself.

Well I've updated the documentation... I still need to do some MAJOR cleanup on it, and add more, but now at least it covers the "File Types" section.

I don't have TT so I could not make exact documenation on that, so the guide just covers zoomplayer. But from what I hear, you can do the same exact thing as how I wrote in the guide, but point it to TT instead of ZP and you shouldn't need any command line switches except maybe %playlist%

Let me know if this helps or not:

I've been corrected the command line switch should be

/PATH %playlist%

Yeehaw! Okay, so that fixed things up, now on to the next problem.

After spending too much time playing around with PowerDVD and not having any success playing ripped discs, I downloaded the WinDVD trial, and it played my ripped movies just fine. In an effort to simplify my Xlobby setup, I went ahead and purchased TT. The problem is, I can't play any rips in it, even if I launch TT before.

Everything is configured corrrectly in Xlobby, so selecting a movie will launch TT, but it just loads the silver film reel splash screen and doesn't do anything. I thought XLobby might not be passing the movie file correctly, but since I can't play a movie outside of Xlobby either, that doesn't seem to be the the issue.

I haven't permanently registered TT, so I guess I can still get my money back, but from talking to people that use it (Tracie) it seems to be the way to go.

I wish there was at least a trial for TT, so I could test some stuff and help ya out.

I'm not sure if this thread will help, but ya may want to look at it:

Thanks for the help everyone. I've read those linkds jowaldo, and nothing there seems to help much. Since a screen shot made it simple last time, I figured I'd post another one of my file extension settings just in case.

So my second question is to anyone that's running TT. Did you have problems with it before you completed the registration process? I'm wondering if I can't play off the HD because it's not full registered, and that's interrupting the loading process (it pops up a window everytime you try to play a rip to tell you how many days are left). At the same time, I'm hesitant to register it, if that just means I'm going to be left with $70 of software that doesn't do anything.

Jason,
Have you had that NOSPLASH switch in there the whole time? I fiddled with that switch at one point & couldn't ever get it to work properly. Also, I think the switch that you add needs to go before the rest of what's there - for instance, my command line with the RES switch looks like this:

/RES 1920 1080/AP 2 /PATH %playlist%

I couldn't get it to work the way that you've got it & like I said, I could never get the NOSPLASH to work at all. TT is very picky about spaces & such in the command line, so it could be something as simple as that.

I never had any problems playing rips during the "trial" period, so that's not it (it's the full version, with a time limit).[/i]

Hey Tracie-

I've tried every possible combination I can think of. The whole splash entry was something I put in right before I took that cap, and although it did work, it didn't effect playback at all.

Is there anything I need to configure in TT? This is REALLY starting to get frustrating, especially because I know it's something that should be fairly easy.

Plus, I just want to use Xlobby, enough of this config stuff!
