Cover Art is Not Found

Postby PhilB on Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:47 am

I have coverart in Artist folders. All coverart files are "cover.jpg".

I am importing with the music template and settings are
"use directory structure
and "ignore folders"

These folders have various Artist music (ie: Best of 1975) so I change the tags to have Album set to "Various" and Artist set to the folder name.

That works fine but the cover art is not picked up for some reason.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks!

Make sure all other tags are empty. Sometimes you may think they are, but using something like Godfather or Tag n' Rename will reveal a hidden comment, or Genre.

Also make sure one of the files don't have a "blank" embedded coverart. Maybe xlobby is choosing the embedded art over your selection.

I have been using "eags-on" mp3 tagger. I will have to check if that even sees cover tags.

This is really frustrating me. I moved a single track to a folder in a new directory and created a test database and made certain that the track had no V2 tags with Godfather. Still no cover art even though there is a cover.jpg in the same directory as the track.

Import of the test database gets the track and artist right but the cover art field is just blank. No art at all is applied.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

Upload ONE of the mp3:s and we can test here too. I also think it has a bland coverart.

try with TagRename and see if that sees it

I figured this out (mostly). I was using the "Ignore Folders" and "Use Directory Structure" options but that seems to ignore cover art in the folders.

If I go back to ID3 Artist-Album, it picks the art up. I am not sure if this is a bug or the intended operation. I will just have to do my tags that way.

Maybe Wes can clue me into what the intended function of these options are or of this is a bug.

Sounds correct to me. If using
"Ignore Folders" and "Use Directory Structure"
then xlobby should only use ID3 tag and if u don't have cover embedded, then it wont import it.

Of course it would be smarter if it took the coverart.jpg IF no id3 was there, but!!!!!!
