Any way to view photo slideshow on secondary monitor?

Postby rembetis on Fri Sep 30, 2005 3:00 pm

I'm in the pre-planning stages of adding a touchscreen to the my setup. Due to its driver limitations, the touchscreen in question must be primary on my ATI AIW 9700 pro, and my HDTV will be secondary (extended desktop). This will work well for the most part, as I can have Xlobby running on touchscreen and send Zoom Player output to the secondary monitor, but I'm wondering about the slideshow... can I use Xmovewindow to bounce that over to the secondary as well (while retaining Xlobby itself on the primary)?

TIA

You cant do it with Xlobby's built in image viewer, but it can be done with a free third party (Picasa) app and girder. Check out this thread: http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3417&highlight=picasa Just fyi, you can still find the old free version of Girder as well, just google "girder 3.2"

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm thinking it might be easier just to set up two duplicate versions of Xlobby on my system: one (default) which loads on the primary (touchscreen) monitor, and one I can load onto the secondary (with the X/Y displacement) for picture viewing.

Hi,

I know this is a very old post, but did you ever implement this, or figure out a way to do it? I tried the Picasa/Girder route, but could not specify how to get the Picasa slideshow on 'Monitor 2', i.e. extended desktop. No matter what, it comes up on the Primary. Did you have any success (or alternatives?)

Thanks!

i need to see how xlobby pans out...

i have a plugin which is about 50% complete that does this, it also pans/zooms/fades between photos to help make it a bit more interesting.

it needs .net 3 (you get a lot of nice effects "free" in it), it currently works as a little test standalone app, but i sould be able to integrate it into a plugin...

but like i said, we dont know whats happening yet! :)

My feelings exactly.

As far as photo viewing, the Picasa/Grider combination ALMOST suites my needs. If only I could specify the slideshow on the extended desktop...

I got this working today using girder and another image viewer (ACDSee). Couldn't get Picasa to stay on the second monitor.
