Problem adapting Spider Search within Skin

Postby rembetis on Sat Nov 05, 2005 6:59 pm

I'm really trying to research the answer before I ask another question. Truly I am...

With that being said, I can't seem to get the spider function working within my skin (a modified version of Baddabing's Redeux II). I've copied the spider screen from Steven's Default skin, as well as the spider events, and (I believe) faithfully recreated it with my colors, fonts, etc.

The problem lies, I think, in the fact that the "button>input" text field is blank and does not show the name of the movie. So when I hit "Seach" nothing happens. How do I make sure this field gets propagated?

when you click on your spider button, you need assigne to an event who have :

- goto screen or show overlay
- spider set

if you have in your spider screen button next or previous items you need in the event a event spider set too.

sorry for my english

Thanks for your reply Sagitaz.

I'm using the Spider event set from Steven's default skin, so the button/event used to go to the spider screen has both "show overlay" and "spider set" in it already (the Category field is blank, and Spider has "dvd*" in it).

I'm afraid I don't quite understand the second part of your message (not because of your English, which is perfectly fine, but because I'm thick). I do have "Next" and "Previous" buttons, with corresponding "Next Item" and "Previous Item" events from the Category command set, but neither has a "Spider Set" step in their assigned event.

In any case, these events tell Xlobby what set of Spiders to use, but not what to search for, correct? How do I get that text field which has "button>input" to show the name of the DVD?

i understand just a little because my english is very bad but i test reply.

can you tell me the name off you category ?

test with this :

the Category field is : category name

Spider has "dvd*" i think you are lot of chance with this : "dvd -*"

for my skin ( Xmedia2 and Xmedia2-games for the next version ), i create for clips module the possibility to download cover for the artist and covers for the clips. i think you can find a solution inside.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Image

I did need to enter the category name in the "set spider" event (in this case, movies). Not sure why that field is blank in the Default skin, or why it works there and not in my skin, but in any case, it's working now, thanks to you.

i think if you use an overlay for the pider search you dont need category name but if you use an screen you need this.

i test if it's this and i repply.

good luck for skinning :)
