Problem in a network environement.

Postby Flavio61 on Tue May 02, 2006 7:51 pm

I have a client/server installation of XL.

On the server I set XNet as server. I start the client and connect to the server and in the XNet windows of the client I see "Connected with the server", I try to add movies to the database manually nothing happens.

The database on the server is empty, it's possible to add movies from the client?

I try also to add the UNC path of the Movies in the general tab but nothing change.

Help-me please.

Do you have the movie database running on the server, you need that first and make sure you use a unc path for the files.

Then when the client connects it will take the database from the server. You'll steill need to refresh from the server though.

I dont think you can "and" share the database.

To add a database to the server press F2 and in th emovie section add the unc path to your movie collection ie
//server/films1
//server/films2

import the titles and xlobby will log them as a database. When the xnet client machine connects to the server at startup it will see the database on the server and pull it across.

Ok! This work fine. :wink:

But I want to add, edit and delete movies from the client and this is impossible on my installation. When, on the client, I select the movies database and I click on the "Edit" button nothing happen, this is the problem. :cry:
