Multizone questions

Postby lar282 on Fri Dec 03, 2010 12:29 pm

Hello
I added my second zone the other week and it works really well, but I got some questions for u guys that have been using multiple zones now for a while.

1:/ When playing the same song on 2 zones, sync all, does your music stop for half a second every xx seconds? It is so often that I cannot use sync because one of the zones skips or maybe tries to sync all the time with the other zone. I tried the checkbox in setup to disbale sync mechanism but it disn't help. Is your music flowing perfectly in both zones?

2:/ Is any using foobar for 2 zones? If so does it work perfect?

Thank u advance

hey hey,
i don't use fubar, i use all the native XL players.
i haven't used the sync in a while, but i'll give it a test and let you know my results.
I don't remember every having the music skip or pause every once in a while, it would play normally.
but i'll give it a test and let you know

thanks

i did a sync all, 6 zones all playing using default media player.
no pausing, or skipping, everything ran smoothly. I ran the test for one full song, about 3.5 minutes.

no issues.

Hey
Thanks for the test, really appriciate it.
Last question
Was the musik so much in sync so if u stand inbetween 2 zones u can barely here the offset in time of the songs? Or is it 1 second so u can really hear the offset?

I did a test on my two zones and found just a slight offset - sounded like a small echo or auditorium.

For me Zone 1 is a couple stereo speakers attached directly to the computer sound card. Zone 2 is the digital output connected to the receiver for 7.1 output. I suspect that may be causing the slight delay. Not sure if all outputs were the same type if there would be any delays.

slight offset, nothing major if you walk from one zone to another, but if you are stuck in the middle, sounds like a slight echo.
