Remote Control

Postby ScottRat on Fri Nov 19, 2004 4:25 am

Hello,

I have been using Xlobby with a touch screen to control functions. Second display is my RPTV. Works great.

I want to add remote control. What do I need? USB-IRT? Girder?

I have a MX600 universal remote.

I would like control of TT 2.0 and buttons that would allow quick access to DVD, Music, Weather, etc.

Thanks for your help.

I only have the USB-UIRT and that is all i need for controlling Xlobby.
I don't use Girder.

Hi,

It depends on your remote control type. I don't know yours. The advantage of girder is you have a lot of plugins to manage differents remote control models.

I haven't been messing with it long but Girder has seems to have a ton of features and its really inexpensive. ($20.00 ish).

I do recomend the USB-UIRT. It is a slick little device and compared to other pc-ir units is about 1/2 the cost. ($58.00 ish).

Originally I was looking at slim-link or something for pc based ir and even those didn't seem to handle pc-control very well.

I'm new at it and so far haven't had any bad experiances.

Thanks,

I have ordered an USB-URIT.

I sure I will have more questions later.
