xLobby Boolean Logic is almost here..!

Some new tools and visual style boolean logic commands are almost a reality for the next xLobby release of V3 making it more powerful then ever.

For example simply put: If the time of day is 3:00pm and the temperature outside is above 75 degrees fahrenheit then set the HVAC temperature for zone 1 to 68 degrees fahrenheit but do this only if the security system is disarmed.

Another example: If the front door of the security system is opened between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00 pm on every tuesday night then speak a reminder from the touchscreens or the whole house audio system that your favorite TV show is about to start or is 10 minutes into the program and then turn the satellite or STB to the correct channel, turn on the selected plasma, lcd display etc. set the volume to a predefined value, set the lighting to the appropriate lighting scene.

xLobby has speech built-in so you can have visual confirmations or speech or a combination of both.

Adding (IF), (And), (While), (Equals), (Less Than), (Greater Than), (Not), (Either/Or) (True), (False) or (Between one variable and another variable) these types of logic events can really add power to a home automation system.

ooooh - I just got a "tingle" (The good kind)

Boolean logic will make a fantastic addition.
If this will be able to be applied to the music/movies events, this will make creating custom genres /filters /playlists much easier.
eg. [If year is less than 1970 greater than 1960 then: play] etc.

This is good news - and expands xLobby from the 'front end' to 'controller' model.

I may be a bit rusty on what's currently available in xLobby but the ability to run a script (eg VB script) that has access to xLobby variables/events/properties/triggers etc would be a great addition too, as then you can accomplish almost any level of complexity.... and you aren't reliant on the built in functions....
