Confused about multi-zone audio

Postby arkania on Sat Jul 16, 2005 7:44 pm

Need your help guys, understanding this!

I currently have to xlobby htpc's setup, 1 in my basement for my home theatre, and 1 attached to my widescreen tv in the family room. All of my media files are served on the basement pc as it has the larger drives installed.

I'm trying to setup multizone audio and am not sure really how to do it properly. What I want is to have the basement pc setup as zone 1, and the family room pc setup as zone 2, but I have a feeling this isn't how xlobby zones work.

I understand the method of installing multi sound cards in one server, but I'm not sure if the method I described above would even work.

I guess basically what I'm asking is can each fat client be it's own zone?

Sorry if that's confusing! Thanks guys.

Yes each fat client can be its own zone. Just add the zone to each machine and then when the living room client connects to the basement at startup, it will automatifcally see the zone on the other machine.
