CDEX trouble shooting

Postby frostykev on Fri Feb 24, 2006 6:41 am

Newbie here, as you can probably tell.

I'm going through my first Xlobby setup, still trying to figure this database stuff out, but thats for later!

I've loaded CDEX and the plugin, pointed the plugin to the .exe file. When I enter a CD into the Drive, a few seconds pass, then "Audio CD" pops up with Play/Copy/Close.

Play works and Close works, but Copy doesn't do anything.

Not sure where to start troubleshooting this. If Xlobby isn't running and I launch CDEX, it works fine, but when Xlobby is running it doesn't seem to want to bring up the program.

Anything else I'm supposed to set?

Thanks in advance

Have you configured your CDEX plugin on the Xlobby Plugins options? You must enter the path of CDEX application

I am having the same problem. I just downloaded the latest version of cdex. Is xlobby not compatible with this version?

I have configured the plugin in xlobby.

Sorry, had posting trouble, laptops cache must be full. . .

I have pointed the cdex plugin towards the exe file.

upon further troubleshooting, the cd seems to trigger the autoplay portion of the skin.

Also, my CDEX under plugin for status shows nothing, just blank.

Any ideas?

You won't get any CDEX 'action' just by selecting the location of CDEX.

You need to add an event to load the CDEX executable via the plugin, then use a button to trigger the event. Or you could have the event trigger if opening an overlay with the CDex controls.

Your button could be to goto an overlay with the CDEX controls. In the events select the plugin event, select the cdex plugin, then select the load variable. If per chance you are using an overlay, you could then set an event to 'unload' the executable when exiting the overlay.

Only problem I'm seeing right now, and I'm not sure if it is just me and how I'm doing things, but Xlobby seems to crash somewhat when doing the close event. I've just discovered it and have to do further investigation to make sure it is a ligit bug and not some silly error on my behave. *EDIT* should add that I've gone back to use .Net 1.1 and a previous version of Xlobby. I found that .Net 2 and the latest addition of Xlobby created a major crash (see the bugs section).

Hope this was helpful.
