PPC Remote

Postby xnick on Sun Oct 10, 2004 3:58 pm

Is there a way to prevent the xlobby ppc client from hanging when the pocket pc is re-powered on (after automatic shutdown). I would like to use the ppc as a remote, but having to click away the error msg and re-starting the client (on top of switching on the device again) is a bit cumbersome.

thx for help

The problem you describe seems to be wifi compact flash card related as it doesn't do that with all cards, my Origo is fine but the Linksys ones are not by all accounts.

This problem are very annoying.

To conserve the battery i have set my PPC to shut down after one minute. And having to click on the error message and restarting xlobby seems like something that should be fixed...

what happens to me is the client will just exit when to turn the ppc back on, then i just start the client again and it is back at my last screen. I havent had time to look into some kind of reconnection protocol, main problem I remember is I couldnt figure out how to find out if the ppc was shut off.

I dont get any error messages either, are you using the latest xlobby2sd.exe and xlobby2.exe? 1st zip has latest xobby2sd.exe second zip is latest exe.

I'm not on the latest release since the clients don't work..

Ok, perhaps it will work better in a later release (i'm on pre14). I can't get a later release to work for the client.

I have a seperate thread for this in "Bug reports"

Steve -

I am trying to use XLobby with my iPaq4705, which runs Windows Mobile Edition 2003. However, the client fails to launch on the PDA, the cursor simply changes for a second, then nothing runs.

I am suspicious that I don't have Compact .NET on the PDA, but I can't seem to download the Compact .Net libraries 1.0R2 or R1 to the PDA: Both versions complain that "this application may not display properly, since they were written for a different version of Windows".

Is this a known issue with Mobile Edition 2003 or could I be doing something else wrong?

TIA
Jim
