Intermission - Alternate video on Pause???

Postby briands on Mon Sep 26, 2005 3:20 pm

I use TheaterTek VMR9 FSE for movie playback. I am considering a custom intro video which also includes “Let’s All Go to the Lobby” and “Yum Yum Hotdog” which would be perfect intermission footage. I have an intemission event that pauses video, mutes picture and ramps up lights. The unpause un mutes picture, turns off lights and unpauses player. Is there a way to play the intermission video and still restart the movie from the same place? I think I have to use another player.

Just thinking out loud -
Intermission start event:
Pause video
Ramp up house lights
Minimize TheaterTek
Launch ZP (would I have to use overlay?) with intermission clip loaded
After completion of intermission clip, play random trailer(s)
contuinue until end of intermission event

End of intermission event:
Flash house lights
Complete playing current trailer
Play end of intermission trailer
Ramp lights down
Close ZP
Restore TT
Un Pause TT

Anyone doing something like this?

Well I'll try something meaningful to make up for the spammer! :-)

TT has a "Auto Resume DVD". You can turn that on. On your pause you can have it exit TT, load the intermission stuff, then restart TT on the same movie. It will automatically start where you left off in the movie.

The only possible problem would be 'load' times of TT but you already would have that with a second player. Also having the pc 'remember' the movie you were playing. Could possible have the pre-launch write a restart script for the movie being played (ie TheaterTek.exe <path to movie>). Then always have the resume call that script (restart_movie). That way no matter what movie you started one command could restart it. Just thinking out loud.

Your event could load a separate video player...ie ZP. you have the filters already so you'd only need to get ZP or some other media player that has an exit when done playing command or some such....or will loop and you can confiugre your remote to exit it. Not the cleanest of solutions but should do the trick.
