I would like to see lyrics instead of milkdrop visualization

Postby Mac on Sat Feb 28, 2004 5:27 pm

In the music section, I would like to see song lyrics instead of milkdrop visualization. Does anyone know how to do this?

all you have to do is download a plugin for winamp player to display the lyrics. http://winamp.com/plugins/browse.php?search=yes&filter=C&query=lyrics then configure winamp to show lyrics.

p.s. where are you getting the lyrics from, and how are you going to store them?

I think they can be stored either as a separate lyrics file (*.lrc) or saved imbedded within the mp3 file.

Rescuing this old thread... cause i want some tips... i wanna add lyrics...

Is anybody doing that at moment? what is the best solution? Theres a lot of those different winamp plugins, based on use experience what is the best? and especially which one works most seamlessly with XL?

I think the best solution would be to embed the lyrics into the mp3 with a suitable tagger and then we can ask Steve to add the feature to import the lyrics into the music.xml

This will be the most seamless integration into XL

That sounds very good to me, good integration with XL is primary objective, but also automatic retrieval of lyrics is extremely important to me, and with this aproach, would it be achiavable (without coding your own software) ?

yes, we used foobar2000 (0.8 version) and a plugin named lyricshow (developped by Hero.Hua specially for xlobby)
So we fixed the window with the plugin XMoveWindow.
I stopped to use .lrc files : i prefer real karaoke with .cdg + .mp3 files or .avi or .kfn and i use karafun (not easy to embed in xlobby but i hope that the new version of karafun - we can download the new version 1.10 in several days - will be easier to interface withe xlobby !

I can't find, what I was looking for but as C-moi said, we used the plugin lyricshow by Hero.Hua ( I know that we hosted this file, but I can't find it and I don't know if it will work with foobar 0.9...) this solution will only work with foobar2000 as audioplayer. with this plugin, you can configure a lot of things like fonts, colors etc...

then when your configuration is done you can fix the lyric windows by using the plugin xmovewindow.

the second way that we used was with minilyrics, and we fixed the minilyric window using xmovewindow ...

How do you configure xmovewindow to display the minilyrics screen?

install xmovewindow in the plugin directory then in xlobby create a text zone with:
as text:
Code: Select all
plugin>XmoveWindow>MiniLyrics

and as ID:
ScreenName_MiniLyrics

Thanks dgemily,

I got xmovewindow to display the minilyrics. However when I change to a different screen and then go back to the lyrics screen, the minilyrics window is not seen. It's still running but underneath the xlobby program. Is there an xlobby or xmovewindow command to bring the minilyrics screen to the front? Or I could use girder to set focus and show the minilyrics window.

thanks,
Mac

did you check "always on top" in the minilyrics cinfiguration ?

and yes you can also use xlobby events to lock/unlock/show/hide etc....
event : plugins--> xmovewindow---> select the fonction that you want and put in variable the classname of the window
