getting video into computer

Postby fredw on Tue Oct 30, 2007 9:30 pm

ok gang besides a tuner card is there a way to get video/audio into your system ? i use directtv for all my tv veiwing needs , so i don't need a epg or dvr i just want to click my tv button in xlobby and have veiwing program go to full screen. i use a hauppauge 150 now the soft ware sucks and i'm not that happy with the card it self. i'd really like to hook up my kids playstation or wii and not deal with a delay. i've been looking at tv card reveiws for a couple of days now and i'm not finding anything that i like, any help would be great
fred

There is no way i know of to get a 'pass-though' for video that will offer low enough latency to play any video game system without delay. Your best bet is to use IR or RS-232 to a video switcher and have XL trigger the change.

EDIT
In Fact, you could always use a voltage trigger or auto switcher that switches the input based on the presence of video. I use to use some Sima ones that worked great, just turn on the video game system you want to use, and the whole system switches for you. When you turn the unit off, it switches back to a device with a lower priority (ie. your satellite tv or xlobby setup)
