output dvd on touchscreen affecting TV ratio size

Postby billberet on Mon Dec 22, 2008 6:04 pm

OK, lol, i have a question (again)

i play a dvd on the XL server, and i have my media player using the cyberlink 7 dvd graph
when the movie starts, the plasma has bars on top and bottom squishing my ratio.
but when i go fullscreen on the touchscreen, the plasma goes to the correct resolution.

Is there a link to how the video is displayed on the touchscreen media player, and the plasma?
as i turn on and off fullscreen mode on the touchscreen, the plasma goes from squished to normal, squished to normal.

has anyone else had an issue like this?
other than this little quirk i am having, everything else is playing nicely.

Bill,

I need more information.

1. Is the output from server to the plasma component video

2. I assume the touchscreen is VGA.

What I need is the exact details on your setup.

yes, i am doing component out from my ati card
VGA touchscreen has a resolution of 800x600

TV resolution is 1280x720 in extended desktop mode

when xlobby has the media player up, i can hit F5 to change my screen on the TV, and the touchscreen video gets elongated.
but that setting gets reset the minute i close xlobby media player. then i have to keep hitting F5 every time i start a movie to get the aspect ratio i want.
but if i go fullscreen on the touchscreen, the TV aspect ratio displays fine.

i play dvd's with cyberlink dvd ultra 7
i am using the cyberlink 7 graph file w/ac3 filter

in xlobby i have file types set up for video_t's separately
i have cyberlink dvd as the player for video_t files.
i removed the video_t file extention for the default setup since i do not use that player for movies. only avi files.

under the file types, where i tell XL to use cyberlink, i am not passing any parameters, i only have the EXE set up to play video_t files.

ok it must be tv related, one tv is fine, another has issues, i just have to look at the setup of the specific tv in question.

i did find an issue when i connected with the client in mimic mode.
if i turn off mimic mode, the movie plays in the client with no issues, my Q1 handheld shows the movie.
when i turn on mimic mode, i am controlling the server remotely
when mimic mode is turned on , no video gets sent to the q1 tablet. all video is on the server. both the touchscreen vga and the plasma.

but since i have no video on the Q1 handheld, i cannot press play on the movie menu screen
is there supposed to be video on a client when mimic mode is turned on?

because of this, i found a specific issue:
if you use fullscreen onbutton the client q1 , (the vga on the server touchscreen goes fullscreen) FINE, but nothing happens to client, screen stays same.
on the client q1, so if you happen to back out of the movie and choose another movie the server vga touchscreen stays in fullscreen mode when you start it up, so it covers 3/4 of the screen. covering all the buttons on the media player
and there is no way out of it untill you kill the server and start again.
on the client, am i not supposed to set buttons on the media player as server events?

since i have no video being displayed on the client Q1 i cannot tell if i am in fullscreen mode or not.
because the screen does not go fullscreen on the client when i click the button, only the server vga touchscreen goes fullscreen
so on the client, in mimic mode, fullscreen does nothing, it only affects the server vga screen.

i hope i am not confusing you too much
:)

thanks

Bill,

What build are you using. On the Q1 you should be able to control playback on the touchscreen and plasma. using play, stop, next chapter, etc.

Answer to your question:
but since i have no video on the Q1 handheld, i cannot press play on the movie menu
is there supposed to be video on a client when mimic mode is turned on? No

it depends, i can control playback yes, ONLY if there is no menu options on the dvd.
i copy the entire dvd, not just the movie, so the dvd has the menu options, so i have to hit play on the screen.
By dvd menu options i mean: deleted scenes, play, scene selection, etc.

and since there is no video, i cannot press play (play on the dvd menu) not the play button on the media player.
and since there is no video, the fullscreen button does nothing on the client, it only affects the server vga screen.
but yet if i double tap the screen where the video should be, the client goes to fullscreen (blank) and the server does nothing.

i am using version 3.0.8350.4

i also noticed, on the client Q1, if i hit the back button in the media player, the movie still plays on the server, i have to back out of the movie section totally and go back to the default screen to stop a movie from playing.

a quick and easy way to resolve this issue is creating a few button to move left and right, and a select button.
so when a dvd is playing on the server and the dvd menu options are on the TV screen, you can move the arrow buttons to the left or right on the client, and the select button will start the movie.
