Flat movie directory structure

Postby tuser95 on Wed Jan 25, 2006 5:44 am

Hi!

How would I import the following structure.

D:\Movies\Westerns\*.*
D:\Movies\Comedy\*.*

Within in each directory ie. Western
I have multiple mpegs and covers as shown here:

Title1.mpg
Title1.jpg
Title1.xml
Title2.mpg
Title2.jpg
Title2.xml

I originally did it this way because I had to postprocess the mpegs and it was easier all in one folder.

Any ideas?

I don't think it will work. You need separate folder for each movie. My movie folder hierarchy is only one level deep.

C:\Movies
Movie1
Movie1.mpg
Movie1. jpg (filename does not matter)
Movie2
so on.....

You can use Genre field in database to categorize your movies and create filters in your skin to display any given category (say Western)

I have the same issue I think here. If you the directory structure being only Drive, Genre Folder, File I am stuck too. The only ones that work for me so far are the very few that are saved as Drive, Genre Folder, Movie Folder, File. Believe me less than 5% of my media is like that. Gonna be a long long weekend.

There is a nifty program called FoldMonkey floating around.. you can have it automatically go into a folder and create a subfolder for each file in the folder and even have it move the file into the subfolder.

What do you do when U have 2 files for one movie. Putting them in the same directory doesnt seem to work. I would like to play movie1.avi and when that one is done it would play movie2.avi directly without having to touch anything.

Cheers

just going by memory but depending on the player that you use, i'm thinking zoom did this.. it would automatically pick up on sequential file names and play them in order.
