Sky + and Dscaler RME Souncard Project

Postby npfe on Thu Dec 16, 2004 4:58 pm

Well to prove that i'm low on the learning curve, I only just managed to get a button on my pda to open dscaler, did manage to change the settings in dscaler to lose the splash screen, so it look seemless.

My idea is to use a USBIRT to send the channel commands via xlobby, I can "use" one of my old pronto gif's for all the channel icons and screen design.

Am struggling on working out how to assign a "ALT F4" command to shut down dscaler though. - Really basic i guess..............

I can see how that with the goto screens this will be an awesome solution, however do need a little help here guys...... :?:

I'd love to never have to touch the mouse or keyboard.

has anyone capture the wp and ip commands with RME?

Has anyone else done this or care to assist in this project

Thanks

I am kinda suprised that nobody except us seems all that interested in Dscaler support in Xlobby.

I did make a start oin this by learning most of the sky+ remote buttons into xlobby via usbuirt but ran into problems with a few buttons that were too short a signal but that bug has (allegedly) been fixed although I've not had time to try again since.

I do have pronto/girder/usbuirt support for Dscaler.

I was intending to spend a bit of time on this next week during the break.

Maybe we should get together and make a collective effort?

John,

Looks like it is up to us then............

I don't have the usbirt yet but see no reason for that to slow down the project, so long as you have "grabbed" the codes for sky+ then I can copy these to my PDA to give me wifi access to the sky+.

What do you suggest?

Thats all very well but you need to send them via wifi to the pc for the usbuirt to then send them to the Sky+.

Perhaps we could get together 1 day next week if your not working? I'm trying not to :?

Yeap i'll be getting a usbirt in the new year.

Just an update for all you RME, Xlobby, and Dscaler users, Last night with a little help from my mate (he grabbed the sequances from Girder), I managed to get dscaler to activate and then switch the preset in RME to one that allowed for the correct set up for the stereo audio in from sky. I then set an exit command that closed the dscaler window and returned the rme to my virgin DVD settings.

This was mirrored and altered to do the same with winamp.

The remaining six are left to create a simple volume slider to give basic volume control in theatertek 2.

Now for the interesting screen designs for the actual sky +.

done it

I have amended a ppc screen for movies that has the basic TT2 controls at the top - similar to winamp.

At the bottom of the screen there are five volume buttons that gives a basic volume control of the RME card.

Can now watch a film without touching the keyboard or the mouse.

Got brave and designed a screen for the additional buttons for TT2 ie up, dowm, left, right etc.

And the wife and kids can use it aswell :D

Now to buy a USBIRT and design some sky+ screens
