As far as I remember, steven said that it would take a lot of work to get that done... maybe someday, but i wouldn't hold your breath ;)

Lost connections are usually due to your network card and outside interference. For example, my kitchen touchscreen PC disconnects when the microwave turns on, and my TV Room touchscreen used to disconnect when I used my cordless phone (this was solved by using a higher Ghz phone).

I second the request for a fat PPC client. I realise it might take a bit of work, but it would be nice.

It would possibly be better to get the ppc network card issue resolved, some cards resume from sleep and some don't, I had some cheapies in my X5's that worked well, the linksys one doesn't and neither do the integrated units in my new ipaq 4150 and a mates rx3715.

Maybe we should bump this again in bugs....

A fat client would be great though as it would also solve the slight lag issue.

Just a (maybe mad) suggestion.

Could an alternative solution be to implement some sort of watch dog in the thin client, that would detect a lost connection and then restart itself?

fat client isnt going to happen. There are very good reasons for this just to many to list here....trust me....been there done that...thin client is the way to do it with .net on a ppc.

When you guys loose the connection xlobbysd closes itself right? doesnt hang hopefully.

No it doesn't hang, it closes but that means you also have to restart it, its just a bit annoying that it doesn't happen on my old Dell X5's with Origo compact flash cards but does with my Ipaq with integrated wifi.

You'd expect it to be the other way round....

Is there anything you can do to help this issue Steve, my setup which works with some but not others seems to point it to being purely network card related?

It is a pitty that there is no fat client solution for the PDA, because it means that Xlobby is not a complete solution for PPC users, as you can't get full (live) feedback on the PDA. If you can't have button highlights and other 'live feedback' elements then PPC/PDA users may look at something else.... perhaps say Proximis. This is one reason why I changed path to using a tabletPC, hoping that using a fat client on the tablet, I would have full live feedback, with the tablet acting as a remote control for xlobby on the HTPC. (But now using the tablet in FAT mode I cannot control movies on the HTPC.)
