ANT doesn't let you scan the UPC in? when adding LOTS of DVDs to the database at one time, this is a must in my opinion, then you can rip them at a more liesurely pace

OK, I get the point, but how do you get the EAN into the PC? Don't tell me you have the barcode scanner? And if you're typing in the number, then I don't see big advantage over typing in the movie name...

Can you still use and update the prior version, or are they forcing you to upgrade? I can't try this myself as my main computer is down current (MB Died) and that's where my profiler program is loaded.

I use the old version with the import utility and it still works great. I read somewhere on dvdprofilers site that they WILL force people to upgrade soon. Thta's kind of why I am trying to get the author of the utility to make it work with 3.02

You are correct on both instances.

Invelos did say that DVD Profiler 2.5 and earlier would continue to be supported but that the database would no longer be updated. I read this at their site over the weekend but can not find it again.

Actually, I do have a barcode scanner. This method also lets me get the exact version (we know how studios LOVE to keep re-releasing versions) to match the one I have.

Oh well, until I get my motherboard replaced, it's all kind of a moot point anyway. Should be in tomorrow, then we'll see.

Where do I get it?
Can I import THAT database into XL?

//Lasse

You can get AMC (Ant Movie Catalog) for free from:

http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog/

And there should also be xANT plugin which imports AMC data into XLobby, try finding it from the master list of plugins:

I would happily switch IF I can import my dvdprofiler list into AMC. It is NOT fun to add 200 dvd manually AGAIN. Do u know if its possible?

I dunno, I never used dvdprofiler, but there must be a way, even though not a 2-click way :-) AMC can import from CSV and such, so if dvdprofiler can export, it's only a question of matching fields... (which ANT can do)...

If you're willing to try export to CSV or similar and send the file to me, I can try importing into ANT...

I'm sorry I haven't replied until now. I've been very busy at work.

I've started working on the code to make it compatible with DVD Profiler v3.x but as I now see in this thread there is probably very little interest in the utility. I had an idea of rewriting the utility to include only the popular functions (like per request) but if nobody's using it, it will all be a waste of time.

:(

The test version linked in this message will only import the nodes from the DP v3.x export file that hasn't changed since v2.x. In other words, just a few nodes. To be able to try it out with a 3.x database you need to go to 'setup' and place a check mark by 'Database is in v3.x Format". To be able to import any covers the DVD Profiler database path (parent directory to images\) needs to be entered in 'DVD Profiler v3.x Database Folder'.

Glad to see you are back. Jovial_mood. I believe there is interest in this tool as I don't want to do 2 steps (I will keep dvdprofiler). I will try out your new utility tonight when I get home.

I thing since you weren't responding people tried to come up with an alternative. I even asked Ken at invelos to add a export as 2.4 format to version 3. Sad to say it wasn't added.

The file I linked isn't a new utility, it's just the old one with some changes. It will not import any data that doesn't comply to the old format of DVD Profiler database. The reason for uploading it was to make sure that it is compatible with the version of Xlobby you are using in case I wrote a new utility.

I will need to know which version of Xlobby the output XML file should be compatible with. The version of Xlobby I have is v1.0.2407.42122 (checking properties of xlobby2.exe). It's pretty picky about special characters in the database. A lot of characters from the file output by DVD Profiler needs to be changed to HTML character codes or scan codes like in the link below.
