cant import pictures

Postby bkilburn on Thu Mar 16, 2006 9:12 am

i am trying to use the pictures section of xlobby for slideshows etc. i have tried to import various pictures but once the importer starts to scan it hangs on the first picture. the pictures themselves load up fine in windows media centre for example. is there a command or setting i am missing? most of them are bmp or jpeg.

Have you tried putting just a couple pictures in a test folder and directing Xlobby at that? Are there any odd characters in the names of the pictures? (Maybe post an example filename here) Is "bmp" listed among the file types in your import template? (Hit F2, click Databases in the left menu, then hit the Import tab, select pictures from the Template dropdown menu, and make sure .bmp and .jpeg are in the Extensions field. If not, add them, and re-import).

Really odd, as the picture module is one thing that has never given me problems...

i have made a simple folder with just 3 pictures in it and renamed the pictures with simple names like dog.bmp group.jpg the database import section of xlobby has all the right file extensions in it like jpeg, bmp, gif etc. what happens is if i try to import it starts to scan the first picture and shows 33% but stops there

Hmmm... that's really wacky. You might want to try deleting your pictures database and starting afresh. Perhaps it got corrupt somewhere along the line...

In checking my picture template, I see that for some reason it has periods before the file types (".jpg,.jpeg,.bmp") while other templates forego the periods. No idea if that matters or not but just another idea to throw out there in case your pictures template lacks the periods.

Last thing... try it without the .bmps (just jpegs). Pretty sure the default template just lists jpegs and maybe Xlobby struggles with bmps for some reason?

i have tried all of that and nothing seems to make any difference. i now have a folder with only 2 pictures in it and both are jpg. with or without "" marks it still won't import them

Well, I'm tapped. You definitely don't want the quotes... I was suggesting maybe the periods. And if you deleted your pictures database, you will need to recreate it before attempting to import. Anyway, hopefully someone else will chime in with some suggestions. If not, I'd repost your problem in the "Bug" forum. That's more likely to get Steven's attention and he is the master swami around here...

Sorry I couldn't be more help :(
