Hey Steven,
I just downloaded and installed the latest version so I can purchase. While it was scanning my music database it popped up this message about 50% into creating the database. Maybe this dump will help.. Tom :)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

One thing I'm having issues with on the prerelease is triggering the internal player from a remote thin-client, either on a handheld with ppc screens or on a regular PC with the normal screens. I can't play music or movies via the internal player from these other machines. I know they will only play on the server, which is what I want as it's hooked into my AV system.

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS FOLKS!!

I'm sure I'll be embarrased, but how do you change a screen destination in the skin editor? I'm preparing to buy and so I'm doing a lot of testing first.

I CAN substitute a new screen for an old one by creating a goto event, then tweaking the menu's database xml.
I just can't figure out how to do it at the skin editor level. :oops:

Your almost there. Open your skin editor while you are in the screen with the event button you are changing. Select the button you want to change then go to the events tab and assign your new goto event you just created. Tada!!

FYI - You should never have to resort to changing the menu.xml that is what the setup/skin editor do for you.

My bad. I forgot to say it's the Prerelease Menu screen that's got me.

Let's say I go to 'Lighting' to substitute my screen which I copied from FreeLobby. So I'm at the prerel 7 menu screen, open the skin editor and click on the existing 'Lighting' button. I go thru the skin editor and don't see any existing event for that button/icon to change.

thanks

Jay, the menu is a database.
Press f2
Chose Databases
Chose Menu
Press Edit
Press Advanced
I think you will take it from here. :wink:

Question about playing DVDs in Media Player.
Insert disc, DVD recognized, title appears, then no response.

A check of file types shows ZoomPlayer enabled. Don't have ZoomPlayer. Tried adding DVD extensions to WMP and enabling it. Same deal. Made sure WMP played DVDs outside of XL.

How are you folks viewing DVDs in Prerel 7?

TIA :)

Does your "popupdvd" screen come up when you insert a DVD? On mine, the choices are "Play" "copy" "close". The PLAY button should already be associated with skins:autoplay:playdvd or something similar. If not, make sure it is.
If the screen with those choices doesn't popup, go under settings, MISCELLANEOUS (i believe) and set the event under "dvd" for autoplay or insertion, can't remember. should be goto popupdvd if I remember correctly.

The popup does and the Play button's event is media player:play dvd disc.
The Play Disc button on the main media player screen is also media player:play dvd disc.

Since file type for DVDs is set to zoomplayer (enable button is checked) and I don't have that, I'm thinking the issue is the player type. As I said, I tried adding the DVD extensions to the Windows Media Player item in file types, but the player still sleeps soundly in XL. WMP works fine by itself.

Maybe I should try to find zoomplayer to install. I never messed with video in freelobby, so I'm starting from the beginning.

if it's using the "media player" play command, it's not looking for external player. Try changing the event to the playdvd command under "autoplay"

I see. So Stephen's player does video? Confused because XL came with zplayer.exe enabled as the DVD player - if I'm reading the File Types setup screen right. I only see that, wmplayer - which I assume is Windows Media Player and Theater Tek.

Giving it a shot. Only external player I have is WMP player so I'll change the events, add the DVD extensions back to WME and see what happens.

Thanks for your patience.

Well, autoplay has audio cd popup, dvd popup (show global overlay only option) and play audio cd.

I think I'll get lunch now :D
