Shared Database Directories

Postby BaddaBing on Fri May 06, 2005 4:07 pm

An issue faced by anyone running more than one copy of Xlobby is keeping all the music and movie databases up to date and in synch. How about allowing us to define a path to the DATABASES directory. This way we could have multiple copies of Xlobby share a single repository and all instances would always be in synch.

it would be perfect if it can be an option in xlobby.xml file
something like databasepath=\\machine\path

This woud also overcome my need for making a xnet client also a server for PPC control when all I really neeed is to keep the databases in sync.

I'd like it to. Specifying it in the xlobby.xml file would be fine. I'd also like it if playlists could have a path defined.

TIA,

u can. I just put this in xlobby.xml and it kind of works.

One have to specify a drive that exist on all clients to otherwise it wont work since for example music.xml contains hardcoded directories

<databases>
<database>C:\collection.xml</database>
<database>C:\Program Files\Xlobby\skins\Shaggy\databases\news-microsoft.xml</database>
<database>C:\Program Files\xlobby\databases\Recipes.xml</database>
<database>Z:\Program Files\Xlobby\databases\music.xml</database>
</databases>
