zoomplayer help with DD and DTS

Postby jamiecrane on Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:21 am

I am having trouble getting the DD/DTS audio tracks to play on my HTPC. I have a Sony P4 with windows xp, radeon 9200 with dvi, and onboard audio with optical out. I have everything working fine, downloaded the trial of zoomplayer pro (which is what I need to pass DD/DTS soundtracks from what I understand) and setup everything with xlobby hooked to a MITS 65" HDTV and a Denon 3805 via DVI and optical connections. I get audio and the picture is awesome, but I can not seem for the life of me to figure out how to pass the DD/DTS signal to the Denon from the DVDs that I ripped to my HD (trying out the whole media server thing). I tried several different movies with no luck. I have used this computer in the past with my sanyo z2 and dvds with no problems (with WINDVD). I have done some additonal troubleshooting and I can play DVDs via windvd and the DD/DTS soundtrack plays, with zoomplayer pro I can not get the DD/DTS track to play with the physical disk or off the HD even though the player says the language is AC3 (DD) I am sure I am just missing a checked box somewhere, so I hope that I can get some help from the experts here!

Try using the AC3Filter (http://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/formats/ac3.shtml) to get DD and DTS to output to your receiver. You need to set the audio filter in ZP to the AC3filter and that should get it working nicely.

I've also had problems getting WinDVD to pass DTS to my receiver but this solved the problem for me.

This is a duplicate reply to your post over on AVS. Hope it helps...

Go into Zoomplayer's Advanced Options (Right-Click, Options then click Advanced at bottom left) > External and make sure you have have WinDVD set to SP/DIF Output. You may also need to go into the Options > DVD > DVD Setup and click the "C" under Audio Decoder and choose SP/DIF there as well. Good luck.

i am having a similar problem. however if I play the DVD using Zoom Pro (i bought a licensed copy) it plays the Dolby Digital 5.1 just fine. I am using the on board decoder and a 6 channel sound card.
My issue is when I launch a DVD through XL it starts zoom and plays the movie just fine, but it in only in 2 channel. I have yet to find a check mark for this stuff either.

one reason i bought the zoom pro is that I found out the winDVD that ame installed on my pc it the basic version and does not support AC3 with out buying an upgrade.

What is your command to launch zoom from within XL?
What skin are u using. My skin actually changes to 2 channels when I press play upstairs and 6 channels when I press play downstairs. But I don't think you are using my skin..

it must be something in the event that launches Zoom

im using the default skin. it is the latest xlobby build from about a week ago. Xlobby is still fairly new to me and I am still learning how the commands work. I looked in setup > events > Skin > zoomplayer > DVD audio > send message > and I have listed:
classname - tmainform
windows name - Zoom Player
message - 32817
wParam - 222
IParam - 4

am i looking in the right area?
