Cannot run PPC thin client or web server fom PC?

Postby btrcp2000 on Sun Aug 28, 2005 5:01 am

Hi-

NOOB with all capital letters. Xlobby looks like exactly what I've been searching for, so now I need to understand the moving parts.

I cannot connect via the thin client or the web server from my pocketpc via bluetooth, or from another pc on the lan. I have another program that runs a webserver that I am able to access both via the ppc and pc (so it should't be a firewall isue), but xlobby doesn't work.

If i put the address http://xlobbypcip:8001 into IE, I get this:

.NEThServer encountered an internal error. To get more info turn on customErrors in the server's config file.

If i use ports 8000 or 8002, i get a timeout. The thin client program doesn't seem to do anything on either the ppc or pc, and I have doublechecked the ip address in the servers txt file.

Also, I don't see a button on the setup screen to start the webserver.

I know this is probably not enough info, but I'm not sure what else to include. Thanks in advance!

The button to start the webserver is in setup/xnet tab which is also where you will find a check box to make xlobby start as a server.

well, so far so good then. I have that all set up, but I have no webserver or thin client. What else can I look at?

I always have better luck using the IP address.

when you start the web server/xnet server the ip address is listed under status in xlobby - Is it the right IP address?

The web server always works 100% for me!

Later
Simon.

sorry, should have been more clear. when i typed "xlobbypcip" that was shorthand for my pc's internal ip. i have tried both the numerical ip as well as the pc's name, no luck either way. anything else i can be looking at?
