Winamp plays every other XL launch.

Help each other out

Winamp plays every other XL launch.

Postby Jay on Fri Aug 04, 2006 2:19 pm

A few months ago, I started having focus probs with Winamp. Sometimes it would play, sometimes not. No discernable pattern. And, I'd frequently get a Winamp error on exiting XL.

Using 5.24. Tried 3.0 and XL refuses to accept the path. (?)

I did a clean 5.24 install of Winamp in a new XL folder. Now no error messages but WA will only play on every other launch of XLobby. This is totally repeatable.

What did I do? Screw up the screen XML somehow? At least I know how to get it going but I want to put a copy in my other place for guests and family to use. That would be confusing

I am having the same issue here...on 2 different PC's. On initial boot MA will not allow XL to control it, upon reboot of XL it then works.

As far as I know, Xlobby only works with versions 2 or 5. And I get this problem occasionally with Foobar as well. Never did get to the bottom of it.

I too am getting the same behavior. It started happening after up-grading to 5.24 and upgrading to latest xlobby. I don't know which installation started this behaviour.

OK on the WA 2 or 5. Thanks.

Well, it looks like I'm not alone. My prob also started on 5.24 and I've gone thru any number of XL upgs. since then.

Should we escalate this to a bug report?

Guys. Try the latest experimental XL build from F2>Download.

I just started and stopped XL 4 times. Winamp played every time.

See if it works for you.

Many restarts, still solid. Anyone else? I believe I'll hold off upgrading until the next official release. The Winamp thing was my last issh and it appears to have been solved by the latest experimental :)

Yeah, no problems here. The most recent ones (amid a flurry of other bug squashing and reformatting) were caused by stupid me forgetting to re-add the path to foobar

Forgive, but did Steve's latest build do the trick as it did for me?
Your post is not totally clear on this. - to me, anyway

Because it's unclear to me too :? I can distinctly recall having the same problem as you for a little while, then I ran into some bigger problems (power crash caused corruption in a number of my not-backed-up xmls). In the process of fixing those other problems, I tried some older exes and ran into this music not playing problem again. Your post caught me in the middle of all that. Using latest exe... no problems. So yes, maybe, probably, all was fixed by latest .exe.

Was all that clear as an azure sky of deepest summer?

Touch and go here.

I seem to be having trouble with the initial focus of XL to WA. I am only able to get WA to work about 50% of the time...even after many reboots. My shoutcast radio isn't working at all...I can hear it trying!!!

you have UNC paths, not directory paths in F2 > Basic?
