Well there you go...a case of beer...a 1/2 hour job for him, everything is done by the books...everyone can be happy...and drunk.

Just what I was thinking.

Sorry to keep on asking questions but what about in the attic space??? I have to run the VGA and USB cables down from the attic anyway so why not the power cable. Can I put a outlet up in the attic, plug AC adapter in and run the cable with the rest to the TS cables? The outlet would then be accessible and I don't have to have an access panel for it.

Think that would be OK??

I would still talk to a electrian within your area to verify for sure, but if the attic is accessable, then you should be okay. I think the other thing is that the outlet/junction box has to be mounted above the insulation.

But as I said, verify with a local electrician (neighbor's kid) who is updated with the codes in your state.

Alright....here it is so far.

You can view the rest of the pics at:

I will put up some more once it's done.

Pics are a little crooked but you get the point.

My wife picked out the moulding and is planning on painting it white with the leaves green and the branches/stems brown to match the rest of the room, you can see the stripes on the lower half of the walls in one of the pics. I wil post a pic once it's done.

I was able to run all extention cables (usb and VGA) with no problems, so far :D I don't see any noticable ghosting that my eyes can see. I am planning on adding a outlet up in the attic to power this, right now I have an extention cord running up thru the attic opening then plugged into the AC adapter in the attic (hung off the insulation). I have the USB, VGA and AC power run inside the wall so I have no exposed wires.

I am VERY pleased with the way this turned out and it works great. Right now I have my TV as my primary display with this running as the secondary. I am also running the thin client on the same machine as XL, I wanted to control each screen independently. This monitor runs the Thin Client and all seems to work well. I can change thru music in the back of the house while someone else can be choosing a movie to watch in the front of the house, we just have to fight over the mouse pointer :D

One of the cool things I found out was I can wake up my pc just by touching the TS. I put my pc in standby when not using it which also turns off the new screen automatically, I don't have to touch the power button on the TS. When the pc goes to standby the TS flashes a few times and says "out of range" and seems to shut off. I can then tap the screen and the pc will wake up and the TS will flash a few times and then be ready to use, takes about 5-8 seconds.

By the way should I have to worry about heat issues with the monitor being inside of the wall? I have no insulation in the wall and the studs are 16" apart, should that be enough breathing room for this?? I also did not fill in the hole I drilled from the attic to run the wires down, I thought it would be better to leave it open for the heat to rise out of, does that sound right? I noticed when I had the TS on for like 2 hours it was a little warm, not hot just a little warm. After I put it in standby it seems to start to cool down. My flat panels seem to feel the same way so I think it's OK.

Let me know what you think,

Here is it finished (I think). Painted it looks kind of girly but I think it looks ok. Hey my wife let me cut a hole in her wall and add a TS, the least I could do is let her pick the moulding

Very sweet.

You know, as I look at your installation, ir reminds me of a question I've been asking about my own setup..... what to display on it when it's "idle".

I think I'll start another thread on that topic and stir up some ideas.

Well my TS is officially hosed :(

I now have pink dots/hue all over the screen. I have tried different cables and computers with no success. I have to contact the seller in Hong Kong  to get a warranty repair.

It's a sad day!!!!

Nice work! I hope you get your TS fixed!

Here is a photo of my Stylistic flush mounted in the wall with oak framing to match my kitchen cabinets

I find these to be the easiest to install. No running VGA or USB, just run the thin client on these things through wifi and walla.

I have mine wired in direct to power coming right behind it. I have easy access in the back through my bathroom medicine cabinet. I just unscrew my cabinet, unhinge it back and have quick access to the tablet.

I run a simple one page flash projector file for my interface that i designed which allows me access to Xlobby, Homeseer, My Voice mail system, and surveillance system

Here is a still of my flash interface
