controlling Theatertek from client PC

Postby allen_we on Sat Nov 27, 2004 8:58 pm

I've searched the forums, so if this is covered elsewhere, sorry. Seems like a simple question - I've got Xlobby up and running and working great for playing DVDs. However, once Theatertek starts running, there doesn't seem to be a way to control the dvd. I'm running Xlobby on a machine attached to the TV screen as a server, and using a laptop with Xlobby in client mode to control Xlobby. How do I stop/start, etc. the movie from the laptop(client)? (Or do I just need a seperate remote? If the answer is a seperate remote, any recommendations (and will I need to use Girder)?)

Hi there

There is a Theatertek control screen in the default skin of Xlobby as for other skins are I am not sure, failing that you could create you own screen and put what ever button you need on it, if you have trouble finding it go to the skin editor select goto and there should be a list of screen available

Hope this help

Thanks. Also, I just was playing around with the heavy metal skin (which is really, really nice) and noticed that it has a panel to control the video - I'll try this out; might be exactly what I'm looking for)

Just FYI, the HeavyMetal skin is set up to control ZoomPlayer by default. You will want to change the event on the 'Settings' button to call the TheaterTech screen instead of the ZoomPlayer screen.

01] Start Xlobby and navigate to the MOVIES screen
02] Hit <Pause>+<Break> to bring up the skin editor
03] In the skin editor window click the "ITEM' tab on the top row of tabs
04] On the HeavyMetal Movie screen Click on the 'Video Player' button. You will see a dashed line appear around the button to show it has focus
05] In the skin editor window click the 'EVENT' tab on the lower row of tabs
06] Click the 'ASSIGN' button under 'CLICK EVENT'
07] A 'Select Event' window will open.
08] Expand the 'SKIN' folder and find the 'GOTO' folder
09] Expand the GOTO folder and find the 'goto theatertech' entry
10] Highlight the 'goto theatertech' entry and click the 'SELECT' button.
11] Close the skin editor - done.
