button with image

I know this sound dumb, but how do I add a image or text that belongs to a button.
I wnat to show text on the right side of a butoon only when the button is selected. I always did it in the xml file, but I guess I could do it in the editor, but how?

1:Add a text or a image and place it where you want whith skin editor
2:make an id-name and check "hidden"(under item, default in skin editor)
3:Mark your button that will bring up the text
4:Under item, advanced in skin editor check the id-name under show and hide, done...
