Current data - currently playing video/movie information...

Postby kolemieux on Tue Dec 14, 2004 8:25 pm

Guys,

I know I have this in several other threads, but will post again as it just seems to me this can be done - is so simple, that people assume I will figure it out --- I wish (-: Here is the objective:

Guys - here is my scenario..... Can this be done?

1 - I select a movie/video (i.e. #1 in a video playlist)...

2 - I create a HUD/OSD kinda which pops up under the playing movie with the charactersitics of that movie - a snapshot of what is playing.

3 - I don't want this to change, meaning - if I head back to the movie section and scroll over some stuff - don't want that data to become what is "thought" to be the playing file. Essentially keeping track of the playlist just like music does (NOWPLAYING...) but with a VideoFile

Guys - can this be done..... I assume most of you can see how this would be used for program information or movie information of the now playing video file?

Am I just missing the boat with something ease here guys????

Sorry but this is not very clear...

How do you mean that it is playing, when you can go "back to the movie section" ? Is it not playing full-screen?

More details

Best example is this (as related to Audio, but looking for in video)

In audio we have a NOW-PLAYING param..... We put this all over our skins so we know what track is playing, what is next, and the like....

If you navigate in the MUSIC section this does not change the NOWPLAYING param, as they are different than what is selected.

This is what I want to do with a VideoFile - movie/videos -- Know what the static parameter is for the currently PLAYING-VIDEO file..... The one that is essentially #1 in the playlist if you will.

Same identical concept - would be able to keep "static" the movie details and have a screen pop up during the movie (if I choose) which shows those details.

I'd be glad to detail further if you need.

Thanks

Let me also clarify ..

Back to your initial question - correct - likely not selected then into fullscreen. I have done some MAJOR rework of all of my skins with VideoPortals of ZoomPlayer thru every screen in my skin - pseudo OSD popups, controls, u name it. FullScreen is as well an option.

With that said - most of my skin does NOT take u just from clicking a video into just watching it full screen. I can check the weather, read my RSS feeds, u name it with my Video/Movie still on screen in a portal. Compliments of XMoveWindow and a ton of skinning work.

With that said - these paramaters are crucial to me. Just need to know how to likely access them. Per your question - it is indeed possible that I could navigate back into my Movies section - move around - and now those params take over. Very few at best of my screens leave you out of the video.

I also have each VideoPortalWindow clickable - and allows that window to go fullscreen.....

Here is what would also be nice.... if some way to handle this and for other solutions as well. When a movie is highlighted, all of the data is current as I want it.

If before my PLAY event, or within my PLAY event, if I could pass this data to some temporary VARIABLES........ For holding until the event PLAY is issued again. If I had about 6 or so variables to work with here, I'd be golden......

Steven?

the new set variable commands could be used.
You could try having a database called playing movie, and when you click play it gets all the variables added into this
Then in your skin just call the fields from this database.
Not sure if you could clear this when the film ends, but should work while its playing
I think colbys new skin has an example of how to use the set variable command
Having just read this thread, i think i might try this out on my pda control screen.

Also wil you be sharing your skin as it sounds liek it will be cool.

kolemieux why do you respond to your own post 3 times in a row? Just edit it. If you dont know what your saying then dont post until you do. If your trying to have a conversation go to the chat. People may begin to think youre somekind of forum post numbers junkie, or youre annoying.

Was getting no response from this, and was thinking out loud - adding information as I went along. I had many posts on this and was pointing out clarification for further detail since I was not getting anywhere.

We know who's annoying on the forums. What a classy response. The best responses have content of value .... Did you have anything to offer or just trying to school me in some manner.

Clearly you did not have anything to offer of insight on this subject or you would have responded a long time ago when I posted it - not a problem. But to offer such sad commentary - nice.

Move forward - value.
