Is thin client on T-Mobile Dash Smartphone possible?

Postby hazmatte on Wed Jan 17, 2007 1:22 pm

I have a T-Mobile Dash running Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone at 320x240 landscape resolution and was wondering if anyone had tried to run a thin client over Wifi this way (or on the Motorola Q for that matter)? Is it possible, are there any tips to get it working, and what skin works best?

it should works....
it work on my smartphone using Windows Mobile 5.0...
for skin, I don't think there is a skin with ppc screens using 320x240 landscape resolution.... so you need to adapt some screens....

Thanks for the tip, I'm new to using Xlobby, can you recommend any resources for learning how to adapt a PPC skin to work on a landscape 320x240 screen?

the best- way is to adapt some ppc-screens, so check for a skin using ppc-screens then adapt these screens: the best documentation for that is here : http://xlobby.incolby.com/Skinning_Xlob ... obby3.html

just a screenshot to show you that we can use xlobby on a smartphone ;) :

Thanks again for the pointer, I will check out the skinning guide. Just for a starting point, which skin is that in your screenshot, maybe I'll start tweaking that one for landscape?

my skin on the skins link at the top of this page (not the test one I posted in the forum with the new format) works... although it is kinda old, it should be relatively easy to change to landscape, since most everything like the backgrounds are made with shapes, not graphics.

Dgemily,

How does it works with your smartphone ?

Is it fast enough ? What about the battery life when using xlobby client on your smartphone with WIFI enabled ? I am asking this because I plan to buy a smartphone like you.

works like a charm ;) and yes it's fast enough....

I'm not using it a lot with xlobby because my skin is not finished yet...
on inactivity my smartphone go to stanby and disable the wifi connection so the battery life shouldn't be a problem...

later
