Question for remote users.

Postby TheBlindMan on Wed Mar 31, 2004 6:04 am

I don't have a remote, yet. But I'm wondering what happens to a hidden button with a remote, not just a hidden picture, but a legit button. With a mouse, the hidden button highlights when hovered over, and clicking activates it. Would a remote highlight it as it is 'keyed over'?

Thanks.

How the hell do you get a hidden button to highlight on a mouse over. I can click a hidden button and it triggers the event but it never shows itself.

Maybe you mean a mouseover unhides a hidden button elsewhere. This work with the remote.

With a remote the easiest way to play is to use only the up/down/l/r and enter buttons on your keyboard - works same as a remote.

All buttons that have 'nav button' ticked in the skin editor are remote navigable. You will notice using the keyboard keys the "cursor point" ?? will not jump to a none 'nav button'.

The button does take on the "mouse hover" property when highlighted but never shows the "click property" - it just works.

Remember if you hide a button and leave it as a 'nav button' you will loose sight of the "cursor point".

All my skins buttons have a bright red button skin when highlighted. I find this easier.

I posted my skin in the skin section - I use it with only a remote. On the main menu the "THX" logo has a hidden button to take you to the exit screen and all the other screens have a hidden button in the bottom right corner to take you back to the main menu. They also have hidden minimize buttons in the top right. I only use these button when i am playing around with the skin as the various screens are accessed using remote buttons - so I dont need the actual buttons on the screen.

Later
Simon.

Simon, thanks for the Nav tip and using the keboard to navigate a screen. I was unaware of both.

If you ID a hidden button and then 'show hide' it's own ID it will appear at mouse over... fun for eastereggs or sprucing up a skin!
