insert audio cd event

Postby Arthur on Sun Jun 13, 2004 2:24 pm

Hello,

When I put an audio cd in the cd-rom, it starts playing in winamp, but I can get Xlobby to show me an event. I would like to get an overlay screen with the following options:
play
copy/rip to mp3
copy/rip to ape

I did set an event in the setupscreen, but no results, any sugestions?

Arthur,

1 - Disable windows autoplay feature.
2 - In set up (F2) go to the Misc screen and add a new autoplay name and use 'cda' as the extension type. Then click the assign event button and choose an event you want to happen on detection of 'cda' file extensions.
3 - You would obviously want to create a new screen with play/rip on it and a new event either goto:newscreen OR showoverlay:newscreen.

Xlobby will do what ever you tell it (via an event) on a cd insert.

IE I put in a music cd - xlobby detects the extensions on the cd and triggers an event to trigger a command in girder to flush my toilet.(Ha!Ha! But only on crap music)

Later
Simon.

Exactly what I want, but it isn't working.
I tried 2 things:
- disable autoplay by --> my computer --> settings --> cd-rom player --> settings --> "message when inserted" (original is in dutch, so I don't know wether this is correct) not selected.
Xlobby does not respond at all
- Keep the "message when inserted" selected, but now I disabled all programs 9winamp, mediaplayer) to react to such a message. No result either. I'm using xlobby 14pre17.
Any sugestions?

Arthur,

I run xp and have never had a problem.

Setup like in above picture.

In fact in the picture you will see a 'cabtest' - I picked up the nearest cd which just happens to have a file in the root with a 'cab' extension and added that and popped in the cd and it worked no problem.

The event you are triggering - are you sure it works on its own. Open the event manager and highlight the event and click the test button. I say this because i spent hours trying to get this to work and found out i had spelt the name of the overlay wrong in the event manager so nothing happens.

Other than this i really do not know as this has always worked for me.

:( Maybe someone knows a workaround using girder? Can girder tell when a cd is inserted? This way I think I can get girder to send xlobby a command telling it a cd is inserted.

Arthur,
I used to use dvdspy (girder plugin) which works with cd & DVD's and can detect an inserted cd. The problem was that xlobby would not control winamp on some of its buttons.

I still do not know why this does not work for you.

Maybe it's win98. I'm using a completly clean install (formatted drive) but I get some strange errors. Thanks for the girder pluging. maybe it helps!
