could something like this be used as a thin client to avoid having to have a pc at a location where i only want media?

This is a windows terminal services terminal.
It requires a network server(Windows 2000 server and abovewith terminal services server) to work on.
Xlobby should run in such environment, but licences cost (I think it was something like 80$ per client + windows server licence).
Besides that I am almost sure that you will not be able to watch video with acceptable quality.

Video ability is irrelevent because thin clients are not used to play media (audio OR video), they are only used to remotely control Xlobby on the server PC.
