Kx drivers, OEM Live! Value 5.1 and 2 Winamp instances

Postby summerall on Wed Mar 14, 2007 4:05 am

I've got an OEM Live! value 5.1 soundcard running the kx drivers and 2 instances of winamp running. I'm trying to get multizone audio setup in XL. So I'm trying to get each instance winamp to send music to different audio jacks on the back of the soundcard (front & rear).

Within winamp I go Preferences >> Output. I select the "waveOut" and click on the configure button. In this window it allows me to change the device. It lists 4 options:
    kx wave CT4830 10k1 1400 0/1
    kx wave CT4830 10k1 1400 4/5
    kx wave CT4830 10k1 1400 6/7
    kx wave CT4830 10k1 1400 8/9

I set winamp instance 1 to 0/1 and winamp instance 2 to 4/5. Try to play music in both instances of winamp and they output to the same speaker. I try several different combinations and no music will come out of the second speaker. All music is played through one speaker.

What and I doing wrong here? Do I have to setup something in the Kx mixer???

Thanks

Have you seen this post:

In there, there's a basic DSP setup for a Live5.1 SB0220 that I have. Not sure if you have modified or even looked at the DSP, but it is one of the most important things to understand (not to mention the most useful).

Basically the 0/1 output (without modifying the DSP) is used to drive all speakers if I recall . Move that output to 6/7. There is also a checkbox in the KX Mixer to swap the front and rear channels which you may have to do, otherwise you'll get the same signal to all speakers on 6/7 and 4/5. Experiment with that setting.

I'm in the midst of writing up a document about the basics to the DSP for Xlobby use. Give me a couple of days to finish it off, it may help you out as well.

summerall,

Please view this post for details on setting up a basic KX DSP. A .PDF document is linked to it.

Hope this helps.

The other thing, when you say a Live OEM card, what exactly is the card number? Is it an SB020X? If so, those Dell cards aren't supported by KX.

Marbles thanks for the great info. I haven't touched the kx DSP but it looks like I need to. I'll try that tonight. I'll also check to see what number my card has.

I'll post my follow-up and any other dumb questions :D in your new thread with the PDF file.

Thanks!
