Help each other out

xlobby2sd

Postby XMediaTech on Fri Jul 23, 2004 7:01 am

I am having difficult conneting my ppc with xlobby.

i have installed xlobby and moved the files:
server
xlobby2sd to my ppc
I edit the server file to have 192.168.1.2:menu

When I click the xlobby2sd file in the ppc I receive this error message:

Connect()error,Class:ClientSystem.net.Sockets.SocketException:Could not find resource assembly

In Xlobby on my PC I have ServerStatus Started
192.168.1.2 port 8000

Thanx for any help.

OS is XP Pro
PPC OS Pocket PC 2003

try and change :menu to :ppcmenu and see if that helps. With your current line you are trying to display a large screen 800x600 or higher on your Axim.

Another thing. You say you "edit the server file" now that should mean you edit the servers.txt file on the PPC right?

Last thing. What version of Xlobby are you running? the servers.txt format has changed if you are using:
http://www.xlobby.com/xlobby2.zip then your file should read:

server:192.168.1.2
screen:ppcmenu
resolution:auto
quality:100%
zone:1

Best of luck to you!

Another thing to check is that you have the microsoft .net compact framework installed on your PPC

Thanx Guys,

Still having issues:

I changed the two files; .exe and ensured server.txt was correct with this info
server:192.168.1.2
screen:ppcmenu
resolution:auto
quality:100%
zone:1

But still unable to connect,,,, maybe a network issue,,,, going to check settings on ppc

I would say network issue... the servers.txt file looks fine. You can even run the menu and not ppcmenu but it wont look good!

Check to see if you are getting a IP in the pocket PC and that you can surf the net with it. if you have all that working you should be fine to connect to Xlobby.

Last thing, everyonce in a while Xlobby decides not to autoload even when the box is selected. Hit F2 and make sure the server is running.

Good luck!

Thanx for the replies,,, good forum!

Well i checked and the server is starting up ok.

I can view the internet on my pda with ease.

BUT I still am getting an error,,, full page listing of error on my ppc.

hmmmmm i hope i can config this as i have been using the xlobby all day but from my PC/mouse and look forward to more development

wish me luck cause i think i need it,,,, i have noticed other apps like Vinyl would not connect either on my system. Yet i use MSN and IE on the ppc. Avantgo will wireless sync but ActiveSync will not... seems to be something not networking.

sounds very much like a network problem. Try enabling port forwarding on all your routers for port 8000.
