Question about ATI Remote Wonder

Postby buffotoad on Tue Jul 25, 2006 9:06 pm

I just started using XLobby and although I am a noob, I am having a ball with it. I am using an ATI Remote Wonder with it. I haven't loaded any plug-ins.

The remote works within Xlobby's default skin - that is, I can use the 'up', 'down' and 'enter' buttons to navigate through the menus.

The problem is that when I first start Xlobby, the 'up', 'down', and 'enter' buttons don't do anything.

Here is a longer explanation to try to make the problem clearer. When I start Xlobby, the 'Music' button is highlighted, but pressing the 'enter' button on the remote doesn't take me to the music sub-menu - it does nothing. And pressing the 'up' and 'down' buttons on the remote doesn't highlight a different function in the menu (movies, weather, etc). But after I press the 'left mouse' button on the remote a few times, the 'up', 'down', and 'enter' buttons on the remote work as they should, and I am able to navigate through the menus.

My goal is to make this easy for the rest of the family. I'm not going to get far if my instructions include 'hit the left-mouse' button a few times to get the menus to work.

Anyone have any ideas of how to have the remote's buttons work upon startup of Xlobby?

Thanks for any help.

the best way for me, is to use xremote plugin.

for that you need girder + ATI remote plugin for girder: girder 3.29(free) + ATI remote plugin

- install gider 3.29 then install the ati remote plugin in the plugins directory of girder
-install and configure xremote, look at the documentation there : http://france.xlobby.com/xremoteus.htm
-and don't forget to disable your ati remote programme...

Should you find that route too intensive (or just more than you need to solve this one problem), you could try the Remote Wonder plugin found on the Plugins page. It has a "force focus" option that (combined with the most recent Xlobby .exe) solved this exact problem for me a couple weeks ago.

rembetis - thank you very much. The Remote Wonder plug-in solved my problem with minimal work.
