Here is something you don't see sitting in someones trash very often:

After ten years of great service it finally died - red tube went out and it doesn't make financial sense to fix it, so off it went to the recycling center

But santa has something comming my way to replace it!

Sorry to hear about the Barco, but I'm happy to hear about Santa :)
Let us know what you think when you get it all dialed in.

I have been waiting for my 4 year old projector to die so I can justify buying a new one :) Please don't tell me I have to wait another 6 years! lol

If the new Panasonic lasts 4 years I will be suprised. Built in obsolescence is standard in new electronics. My old BARCO was built for industrial use and 15,000 hours of life was the norm equating to ten and a quarter years at 4 hours of use every day. Of course ten years ago the Barco sold for $16,000.00 dollars (a lot more in todays dollars) and the Pani is smaller, weights about a hundred pounds less, is quieter, has a sharper and brighter picture all for about 2 grand. :D Of course I figure going through two $240.00 bulbs a year bringing the actual cost of ownership to 4 grand over four years. By then I'm sure holographic 3d projectors should be the new standard.
