Speed of UI when displaying album covers

Postby mph070770 on Thu Jun 21, 2007 7:55 am

Hi,

I have a Athlon XP2600 and 1G of RAM, on a Shuttle SN41G2.

I use the generic view for the music viewer and find it so unresponsive that it's un-useable. Is there any way to make the caching of the albums quicker?

Thanks,

I have it set up on a few 900mhz with 512 mem. Just make sure you have "FAST INTERFACE" in setup\General. Hit F1 to get into the setup. It will load all your alb covers in xlobby\cache.. Also, do you have your covers in your MP3's or in the folder? If you are using high res alb covers this might slow it down a bit.

Thanks for this. I'll give it a try. I did select "Fast Interface" last night but didn't restart. Would I need to restart for the caching to occur? Does it cache the whole MP3 folder? Is it cached when the files are first imported into the database?

My album art is in the MP3 folder, not the MP3 file. I'll check the resolution too but obviously I don't want to drop the resolution/file size because it's also important that the artwork looks good on screen.

Thanks.

Yes, drop xlobby and bring it back up. Should take awile to come up since it is loading in cache. Well worth the wait
