I don't want to speak for Steven but I think the object of XL is to get the material to the HDD.....plus using free codecs/plugins. Thus, I would guess they really aren't going to support the full Gold/Platinum functions....this is more of an authoring effort. As FYI, I use the FREE DVD Fab then use Nero 7 for my encoder. I don't have any other targets I need to re-encode to so Nero Recode to DVD-5 or DVD-9 is fine for me. I've heard folks are happy with the DVD Fab Gold/Plat versions.
