[SKINREQ] MyHtpc clone

Looking for someone to make a MyHtpc clone, for us remote users, simply because it is the king of simple navigation for remotes. Basically I want the functionality/setup of MyHtpc with the looks of a nice beautiful skin.

Here is a few screens of my music module, which is one of the main things i want to be like myhtpc.

then you click on a artist, it takes you, showing you the albums avail


select a album, and you have the tracklist


The way this is setup, especially buttons on the left, makes remote navigation a breeze. Also, nothing starts until you click on a track, and then thats all the plays unless you queue the others. In my eyes, this is how it should work, instead of most peoples skins playing as soon as you click on the album cover. The only thing missing from this is the FFWD/RWND etc, which I think could be fit in there somehow.

It would be great to do something like this for music/movies in Xlobby, but add some nice graphics/buttons to these.

No need to be rude. As well, I had used myHTPC and MCE for over a year and never considered myHTPC to be a MCE clone. Regardless, the skin shown at that link should work like what cavitycr33p is looking for.

I also didn't like this feature, so I turned it off and added a "Play Album" button on the overlay screen. You should play around with the skin editing features. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get it, it is really quite powerful (and fun!).

Damn screw, I work on computers for a living, I know how to use the "Search" function.

Anyways, Myhtpc is not really like MCE at all, and the MCE clone is nice and all, I was just thinking since there are alot of us from the Myhtpc boards moving to xlobby, that someone might attempt to clone it and use the nice spiffy graphics of Xlobby to get what we always wanted, a nice, free, skinnable, and more functional HTPC frontend.

I am willing to make a clone skin, like Myhtpc, if you really want it. But I have never used Myhtpc so I dont know how good it would be. It may be better if I create the nice spiffy graphics and let one of you compile the skin. I am very open to callbrative skinning, (just ask Qtip). I can lend my limited expertise. Let me know.

Well, Thanx for your comments colby and steve. The graphics I could handle, although I'd rather you do it, or maybe we could work together on it. It's the actual skinning im having trouble with, I can work my way around the skin editor fine, but have no idea how to get what I want working from scratch, for instance the meta masks.

Maybe screw ment search within xlobby...anyway that way you could pretty fast sort out artist with albums.
I tried myHTPC a little before I discovered XLOBBY.In my opinion,making a clone of myHTPC is a huge step backwards.I think It is so clumsy to use.
Just have some pation,soon xlobby will have a installer and many great (working) skins

I am a former (well kind of in the process of becoming a former) MyHTPC user. I am still getting up to speed on XLobby, but clear see that it's toolset is much more robust than MyHTPC. In the switch over I am losing a few nice to have's (very quick setup and irman direct support primarily), but the screen layout flexibility is very much worth it.

That said, I agree with others here and cannot see any value in directly duplicating MyHTPC. Personally, the skin that I create will incorporate some of it's navigation which is intuitive to me as a remote only user. IMO, the actual screen layouts in MyHTPC are horribly inefficient in screen real estate usage though. The Media module description/overview display kills me when I can only display a sentence or two readable on a SDTV and seeing all the unused screen - and that I can scroll through as many actors my movies have, but not the description.

I anticipate Meedio to be drastically improved and will probably include a robust enough feature set that will make it a toss up between it and Xlobby - but that will be then and then is too late for me

I agree with you, I just want the navigation to be similiar to myhtpc, similiar, not exactley the same, but close, because with my remote, myhtpc is a snap to get around in. And the music, movie module are easier to navigate in myhtpc than any skin ive seen so far in xlobby. I DO KNOW that all of this is possible, and I am in no way knocking xlobby, because almost anything can be done, I would just like to see somebody do a myhtpc style skin, with more options and a nicer theme. I don't want a exact clone, I might have phrased it a bit wrong.

I use to be a user of myhtpc but now I have changed to xlobby and I'm using visual skin twiked to my needs and has everything myhtpc have plus much more and it is easy to navigate with a remote as well if you want I can send you a copy for you to try

What do you have it set up for? If somebody could send me a preconfigured copy, that would be great. If I can get the music/move/games section worked out, where I can navigate it with a remote, and to show up how I want them, I'll be set.

I can't figure out the metamasks stuff, and want my albums to show up like previously mentioned, along with movies and games like that.

I use for tv a cable card and a satellite card wich I launch the aplications from xlobby I have the music module movies recorded stuff weather plus internet using simplebrowser I can send you a copy if you tell me how to so you will have an idea on how it works and set it for your own needs
