Photoshop Questions

Postby summerall on Fri Jul 22, 2005 3:58 am

So I'm trying to build my own skin and I'm tinkering with Photoshop. I've never used it before and have some questions for the pro's.

Let's say I have picture of a red circle and a white background. How do I make a PNG file that when added to Xlobby ONLY SHOWS THE RED CIRCLE? I don't want the white background to display. I've looked around in the menus and can't figure out how to make the white background transparent.

Thanks

you have to make a red circel on transparent background.

selecte transparent instead of background color when creating the file.

or create your circle on a separate layer, turn off (uncheck in layer pallet) background layer and save it as png

The above post are correct. The secret to photoshop are layers. You will know a background layer is transparent because it will be little checkerd pattern (default gray and white). You can save for web via Photoshop and select PNG 24 as the output.
