How to setup basic KX DSP screens for using in multi-zoning audio.
###

I decided to do up a little document on getting comfortable with using the KX DSP to set up some basic configurations to perform multi-zoning tasks with Xlobby.

The document, in .pdf format, can be found here

I hope this is helpful to some. Feedback is welcome as it can only make the document better.

*EDIT*
If this doesn't give me that little "writer" icon...I don't know what will

Another good one there Marb.

Too basic to read from cover to cover for me, or mayby im just too lazy, but I learned couple new things already... never before realised that GPRs were limited natural resource, now its hightime to get another 2k1 card to replace my old crappy live!

Its just, i have LiveDrive! for it and i need to mod it to be compatible with newer cards. Theres fashinating thread about subject on kX forums, cant remember the URL though right now. Its basicly just takes remapping of connection (simple enough) and replacing ADCs with newer philips components... ITs just i cant locate these ADCs at my usual parts supliers... so i was wondering since u have quite some electronics DIYing background, mayby u could give me pointers to component suppliers with good selection... preferably here in old continent...

Sorry about getting this somewhat offtopic...

Digikey has a slew of them:

http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch ... 83&Site=CA

I'm not sure if they have a distributor over in the Europe...something tells me they don't.

Arrow Electronics also have them. They do mention something about "Arrow Worldwide".

Code: Select all

        UDA1361TSDK
NXP Semiconductors (founded by Philips)

Arrow's website is:
http://www.arrownac.com

Hope this helps. If you have problems getting them through Arrow, then send me an email and we can take this offline and see what we can do.

To let you know, if you were searching for that part by "Philips" then that would be a problem. Philips Semiconductor is actually called NXP.

Marbles -

Using your PDF guide I was able to get 2 zones working with my CL Live! Value card and the Kx drivers. Next I'll be working to setup a "main" zone or "whole house" zone. When my two zones are synced I don't like that I have to go from zone to zone to control the volume of each one. Many thanks for putting the documentation together.

I've updated the document and added a "Tips" section at the end. In the tips I've added reasons for using the "Pro" modules, and added a new setup that I've currently deployed in my setup, and so far is working nicely.

View link in my first post to download the updated document.

Enjoy.

I've updated my KX DSP for my music server. It now uses two SB0400 Audigy cards. I haven't reflected this in the document yet. I added the gain to the output of one source. This source is the Line-in for the external tuner. I found that the input signal was way to high (hence, very loud even at low volume levels). This was not required for the home theater as it has its own volume control (top mixer circuit). The 2 to 1 mixer/stereo volume is for the garage zone and will output to the Audigy side surrounds.

The main floor:

The upstairs floor:

I'm going to keep it like this for a while...mainly I'm tired of changing it around all the time. If I do any changes, it will most likely instead of defining an instance of winamp per zone, I will provide 5 sources to 4 zones. Each card will have 4 independent winamp sources and share the line in source. This will allow any 4 zones per floor to be synced with each other. Just a though right now as that change would require a new skin (or majorly modify ZoneSkine3).
