Postby troy destroy on Wed Oct 26, 2005 6:40 pm

newbie here...
I tried searching but cam up more confused.

my movie structure is set in a flat directory like this:

h:\video\movies\movie1.avi
h:\video\movies\movie2.avi
h:\video\movies\movie3.avi

i keep seeing that i should create a new folder for each movie but have a collection of over 500 video files and do not want to do that unless there is no other way. any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you find a solution, or are you just giving up?

I faced a similar situation. I ended up throwing all my movies in seperate folders as well, which in the end made me happier.. I also, doing a few at a time, went and found dvd cover images for each of them and placed them in the folders named folder.jpg. The end result is in whatever software I try to use, I at the very least have thumbnails for each movie without any configuration which is kind of nice. .. anyways.. to initially start the mammoth task of creating directories I used a program called foldmonkey. This proggy can swipe through a directory and create a folder based on the filename and move that file into the folder. One minor drawback is if your file is over 2gig it can't complete the move, but does create the folder, so worst case scenerio is you move the file into the folder yourself.
