skin/macro & surround processor & projector control?

Postby bhobgood on Thu Sep 15, 2005 7:39 pm

New user here trying to figure out how to use xlobby to control my
Outlaw 990 processor and Sony HS20 projector. Right now, the wife can't remember all the steps needed to set up the processor and projector to play a movie. I need to somehow set up a macro where when I press "play" on the Xlobby movie screen, it will turn on the projector (if it is off), select the DVI input, select the correct input on the 990, display a page with controls for Theatertek and surround processor controls and then play the movie off the hard drive or if offline, indicate so and open the DVD player drawer. Xlobby will be displayed on a 15" Planar touchscreen (vga) with the movie playing on the projector(DVI). I will be using a usbuirt for the projector and either the usbuirt or RS-232 for the 990. I have yet to see a skin with any kind of A/V control. Is this possible? Does anyone have anything like this in their skin?

It’s possible.
I think jowaldos skin has a screen for macros.
You still have to learn how to make the different events for your needs.
Press f2 and study different events  , read this

bhobgood,
I'm interested to see if you get it working... I may try myself if you do.

I don't have my new system built yet though... it will be a month or two still.

I use macros but I wouldn't call it macros, just plain events. If u have more than one com in a event ist a macro?

When I press play in xlobby my event does this
1/ switch the stereo to 5.1
2/ turn light A1 and A2 OFF
3/ set projector to right mode
4/ when started playing in zoom it auto sets the refreshrate to dvd material

thats what good about xlobby. It's event controlled so u can do almost anything.together with girder with the serial plugin u can control it all

it just takes so looooooong to set everything up, but thats the part u do during the rainy days

I'm trying to avoid using 3rd party software as much as possible. I'm hoping XL can do most of the main stuff without needing Girder (I do not use it now and rather not need to spend time learning it).

If XL can be the main source for things that it does well now (multizone audio, photos, weather, etc) and extend to master serial control, x-10 control, and seamlessly integrate with a PVR solution for DVB & HDTV then it is most of what anyone will need it to do right now and in the forseeable future.

Love to hear Steven thoughts on this?
