I have a few general questions as well as some suggestions for the Pocket PC screens. I understand the request for feedback was aimed at touch screen users so if this is outside the scope of what you are doing now I understand.
PPC requests
1. Add stop button to the screen that shows the tracks and coverart of the albums…Details screen? Currently there is vol up and dn , pause, next/prev album along bottom play cd que cd Play que along top.

2. Add stop, play, next, prev, pause to now playing screen (music)

3. In search add ability to search by Genre and allow random within selected Genre (if possible)

4. In the details screen on movies it would be nice to have stop pause ff rew in addition to play which is already there.

General questions
5. Main application (using keyboard mouse on main pc) the search features for music and movies do not work for me, everything else works great.
6. What touch screen do you use (and approximate price) I am considering switching from pocket PC to touch screen.
7. I am looking for a reliable way to view/record both analog and HDTV using XLOBBY, can you give me some feedback on your experience with Sage? Also which TV card(s) do you use.

Hi Scott,

A] Stop buttons - Because of the limited amount of screen space on a PPC I went for as few buttons as I could get away with and still be functional. I figured that a pause button would server as a combo pause/stop/mute. But if there are more requests for a stop button I gues I can fit it it.

B] Genre search - I can do that.

C] Movie transport buttons - good idea, something I'll definitely do.

D] Search problem - Does your movie/music list appear at the top of the seach screen when you first open the search screen? When you press a letter key in the search window does the list change?

E] Doesn't really matter which touch screen I use - they all work exactly the same. It really boils down to what you want to spend. For the biggest bang for the buck I would recommend a standard LCD screen and then add a Magic Touch touch screen (google it) kit. You can get a nice 15 inch LCD for about 200 and the Magic Touch kit for about 180. Much less than what you would pay for a new integrated touch screen. You might find something cheaper on FleaBay but I don't really see much of a savings compared to buying new or refurbed and with a warranty..

F] Sage - bought it - along with a couple other PVR packages - but I don't really use them- none of the PC PVRs seem to work as reliably or as easily as my TIVO. I'd suggest spending some time at http://www.avsforum.com for info on PVRs & HDTV

This weekend I converted your ppc screens to 480x640 resolution so I could use them with my vga axim. Could I have your permission to post a zip of them online, or give them to you to include with a future release?

I like the direction your new version is taking and am looking forward to testing it out (I just hope I don't need to convert all the ppc screens again... )

You are welcome to post them. I'll add them to the main HeavyMetal download. This way when I add new features to the PPC screens I can update your screens as well. Thank you for doing the conversion!

Nothing happens a new screen does not appear it remains on the screen with the search button.

Don't know how your seach function got messed up but here is how to fix it:
-Go to the music screen.
-Hit 'ScrLk+Pause' to bring up the skin editor.
-Click on the 'SEARCH' button to highlight it.
-Click the Item/Event tab in the skin editor.
-The top Click Event should say "music:show filter artist"
--If NOT, click the ASSIGN button
-When the Select Event window appears expand the SKIN folder
-Next expand the MUSIC folder
-Find the entry "SHOW FILTER ARTIST"
-Click on it to highlight and press the SELECT button at the botton of the window.
-Close the skin editor.

Same steps for the movie screen except the Click Event should be "movies:show filters" and it will be in the MOVIES event folder.

Finally, make sure you are using the latest xlobby2.exe.

Let me know if this fixes it for you.

I tried the steps you outlined but the correct parameters were already in place. music:show filter artist" was associated with the search button for the music page and movies:show filters was associated with the search button on the movie page. To make sure I removed each and then shut down xlobby and then put them back, it did nothing. I then downloaded the latest .exe from the downloads tab and repeated the process, same result.

Is it possible that the install was corrupted in some way? Would re downloading the latest skin possibly fix the issue?

Earlier i suggested a search for genre, is it possible to apply shuffle to all tracks within a specific Genre? I think this would be a nice feature. It may work like this: once Genre is selected every track is added to a temp play list and then all the tracks in that temp play list are played in random order.

I downloaded and installed the current version and the search screens work fine, so yes, I would re-download a fresh copy to see if that fixes your problems. Also, are you running the latest exe?

I'm not ready for beta testers quite yet. I'm still in the requirements gathering stage. HeavyMetal has been out there to play with for months. Right now I'm just asking what was missing or could be done better in the new version and hopefully make it a better xlobby skin.

I reinstalled the heavy Metal WS and was not able to get the search to work. I switched to the prior heavy Metal skin and it worked fine. In the Heavymetal WS folder here is the code: "music Search"
It looks like there is nothing after event button ? I looked again at the skin editor and the search button is associated with " show filter artist"

You forgot to mention that the problem was in the WIDESCREEN version in your previous posts. I've been looking for a problem in the 4:5 version. I checked the 16:9 files and found that the events file was corrupt. The HeavyMetal_WS download has been updated.

I like the cover selection style and the choice of the fonts.
